Help with a 3 month old who thinks 4am is wake up time....

Ineed some infant sleeping help. Liam will be 3 months next Friday, every since daylight savings time happened Liam thinks 4am is time to wake up, he used to sleep until 6am. Around 8pm, I swaddle him (only at night so he knows it's sleep time) and give him either boob or bottle or both because he eats more than i produce. He goes to sleep and around 10am i dreamfeed him and we g...ot upstairs and he will sleep until about 1am, feed then again around 3am and then at 4am he is wide awake and nothing soothes him until we get up and go downstairs, he will be up for a while, i will boob him and he wil go to sleep, for a long time probably because he has been up since 4am but by that time Lauren is awake and Jake is geting ready for work so i can't go back to sleep. It's killing me, any advice?

I am new at this mommy thing, I wish I could offer up some help! When he wakes up at 4am is he crying? I assume you try to feed him again, maybe he doesn't get enough at the 3am feeding? You've probably thought about and tried this already Chat Icon What about the swaddling? My DD used to break out of it and I think it bothered her and she would wake up from it - since I have stopped swaddling, she seems to go to sleep better. Good Luck - I hope someone else can give you better ideas/help

Maybe start the bedtime routine later...or stop dream feeding and maybe he will wake up to eat sooner and then go back to sleep longer?

My DD goes to bed around 10 and sleeps til 3 or 4, gets up, I bf and she's asleep again w/in 15 mins until around 8am

I don't know if you've tried this, or are even open to this, but this is what I do when DS wakes up too early (don't hate me, but that would be sometime between 6-7am, first bottle is at 8 Chat Icon). He starts fussing, but will fuss in his sleep for a little. Fuss for 20 seconds, back to sleep. I let him do this a few times. When I feel it's time, I quickly change his diaper, then bring him in to bed with me and do the side-lying nursing thing. He's still half asleep, and will usually fall back to sleep until 8-8:15. I think the trick is to get him while he's still sleeping/sleepy. I hate that I have to change his diaper, become sometimes that wakes him up too much, but when I nurse in that position and he doesn't have a fresh diaper it leaks, BAD! I actually really enjoy this part of the morning... He's my little snuggle bunny! Chat Icon

Dd is 5 mnths and I do the same with her 1st morning feeding. Usually between 7& 8 since the time change. I just started the side lying position and love it. We snuggle together and snooze! Sometimes she falls back to sleep for awhile so she goes back in the bassinet.

Re: Help with a 3 month old who thinks 4am is wake up time....

no matter how late we put DS down, he would not sleep later. it was awful. there were weeks where he would be up at 4, take his bottle and then go back to sleep until 6 am or so.

even now, at 2 yrs old, he is up 6-6:30am. we had a good stretch there before daylight savings where he was getting up after 7 (like heaven to me).

i wanted to try room darkening shades at some point, but havent gotten them yet. maybe keeping the room dark will help?
