Help with a vacuum...
Anyone who has long hair, I'm sure that you find strays all over the place...well I do.
We bought 3 Sharks (vacuum) and have broken all three of them. What is a good vacuum that will pick up my long hairs? My dh is about to kill me...

Re: Help with a vacuum...
Have you tried a hoover? I've had hoovers and never had a problem with them and with 2 dogs I'm picking up a lot of hair!!

I wanted to go with a stick type vacuum...without bristles...my hair gets caught in that too.

Re: Help with a vacuum...
I am a fan or Oreck.
and at Fh's place we have a hoover windtunnel which seems to be fine. I have had extremely long hair (I donated to Locks of Love twice since jan 2006 so my hair has been past my waist) and have never had a problem with either vac.

Re: Help with a vacuum...
I had a stick vac once and felt that it didn't have the same kind of power to suck up everything it needed to. That might be part of the problem, the vac is working to hard for what it needs to do. You might want to use a larger more powerful vac upstairs, and have a smaller one for the basement so you don't have to carry it down.

Re: Help with a vacuum...
i was gonna say the same thing... i would try a regular vac. you could be "burning out" the stick vacs by making them work too hard. i have a bissel upright vac that converts into a cannister vac so its easy to do upstairs and downstairs with it. it has a brush with bristles, but i can turn the bursh on and off... so i just don't use it, to avoid hair getting caught in the bristles.

I've never had a problem with any vacuum. I do make sure to clean the bristles though.

Re: Help with a vacuum...
electrolux oxygen vac..... I agree, though... that I also have never broken a vac with my hair.....
it may be something else. Are you sure it's not clogged somewhere (flip it over, and check the tubing, especially at the bends)

Re: Help with a vacuum...
I Have a bissell....It's actually my moms. She lent it to me and she uses her old electrolux which she swears by. My hair is EVERYWHERE so when i vaccum it gets twirled around the bottome where the brissells are. I just take a razor and cut my hair out. It is a PITA but it works. I am looking for a good vaccum....Not a bagless one. The one i am using now is bagless and i hate it. ANyone can reccomend a bagged vaccum?

Really, I have one and haven't had a problem with it at all. Plus I have 2 dogs. Do you cut away the hair on a regular basis?

I'd be lost without my animal. I second that suggestion.
