Hemmorhoids and scheduling a c-section...

Have any of you ladies heard of this? I have a 4th degree hemmorhoid that has been thrombosed with a blood clot for the last month and my OB said to go ahead and schedule a c-section but online it said c-ections aren't normally scheduled because of them and my SIL, who is a nurse, is upset because c-sections aren't normally scheduled because of them.
They told me that pushing in delivery could cause them to rupture and bleed and to do the c-section to avoid it all together.
Any of you had any experience with this? Are they jumping the gun on the c-section? Could i have a problem with a vaginal delivery??

to me, it sounds like a c-section would make sense. the pushing invovled in a vaginal delivery does give many women hemmoroids and yours is so bad already, i see why they might want to avoid that entirely. that said, though i have no personal experience with this, so i can't really advise... but to me, yours sounds so painful, that maybe a c-section is best.

have they spoke to you about pain meds. or options available to you to help with the hemmorhoid if you went vaginally?

I had all three hemmorhoid pads thrombosed and had surgery on them 5 days before I delivered DS by elective cesarean. It's up to you - since it's 1 maybe it won't be so bad? - but there was absolutely positively no way I could have pushed - I literally couldn't even walk or sit.

I think many people have their own feelings on cesareans and their 'use' and they may let that get in the way of a dr's recs. JMO - I've been on the receiving end of this reaction innumerable times.
