Is chicken pox madatory for school now?
yes, unless you can prove through a blood test that your child already has the antibodies in them, through exposure.
However, it is one of the ones you can effectively delay as it is not mandatory until the child enters 6th grade.
right, DD is not getting it until the very last day I can delay it before she goes to school. I dont want her to be one of the ones not vaccinated and then she gets sick.

No vaccinations are mandatory for school.
(sorry for the hijack)
In NY state, the only reason your child would be exempt would be to grant a medical or religious exemptions for people who have a sincere religious belief that prohibit immunizations (for example, Christian Scientists).
You would need to write a letter prior to your child attending that states that. My sister had an attorney that specializes in immunization law draft a letter & the attorney attended the meeting with the school principal & nurse.
There are some states that allow exemptions based on philosophical beliefs.

that is true, but NYS generally takes an "all or nothing" stance regarding immunizations. Once you child has had 1, it is much harder to argue that your religious beliefs prohibit immunizations.
Last year when I taught 6th grade, I was down a good 8-10% of my class the first few weeks as many parents were not aware of the new requirement (which for the life of me I can't remember the name of right now, I know this year the big one is chicken pox).

I thought the RSV shot was only for preemies and babies with underdevloped lungs, so why are people having it done??
The rotavirus isn't RSV. RSV is respiratory. Rotavirus is serious vomiting/diarrhea
