hershey's first hurricane
im hoping he will still go outside to pee/poo later when it starts raining/winding! lol
has anyone had experience with their dogs in a hurricane? any tips??

I was just saying this to DH. I don't know how Jensen will be...and what do you do with a dog during a real hitting hurricane? Scary.

i know!!
im just a little nervous b/c hershey wont go outside to pee/poo if there are fireworks going off... im thinking he may be the same with the wind since *IF* we get strong winds, it can make scary noises!

Try your very hardest to keep your routine with your pup. You may have to go outside to encourage or reassure him/her to take care of their business.
Just keep in mind. If it's not safe for you to be out, it's not safe for your pup to be out either.
One more piece of advice. This applies to a lot of situations but, remember: whatever goes down the leash, comes back up the leash. What I mean by that is if you are truly terrified to be outside during some heavy rain and some wind, those feelings will end up transfering to your dog who will then start to react to those emotions.
What does Ceasar say? Calm state of mind or something like that. He's right.

My dogs don't like to go out int he rain at all so we end up leashing them. they are never leashed to go in the backyard, but they think we are going for a walk ( a walk around the bakyard) and then they go outside. I never give them treats for going outside but when its bad weather and I can't get them to go out, I give them a treat when we come in.

Perfect answer!!! Our "middle" furry baby HATES going out in the rain. I've been letting the dogs out in the drizzle so that they won't have to go during the bad parts tonight and end up (Heaven Forbid) having an accident in the house.
