Hey Girls! Random (maybe stupid?) question..
I am scheduled to have an annual appointment and a pap with my gyno next month. If I started TTC just prior to that, could a pap affect any potential pregnancy? It looks like I would O within a few days of the appt (AF has been irregular the past 2 months so I am having a hard time gauging when it will happen). I will probably confirm this with the gyno for peace of mind tomorrow but I was curious if any of you knew.
Thanks!

Haha Thanks Kerri! Right now its "hypothetical TTCing"... Still got to figure out what to do about this as I am past due for my pap but really rather not put TTC off for the next 2 months!

Re: Hey Girls! Random (maybe stupid?) question..
haha love the "hypothetical TTC".. haha!
My off the batt estimated answer is... that you should be fine. i'm thinking the spermies would have swam up higher than the pap needs to go. but I really don't know. I'm just thinking.
I'm so naughty that I'd prolly skip the pap and just start trying!!
just did a quick google search for you. everything says NO that it doesn't affect and it's safe. .... "Pap tests do not affect either your chance of getting pregnant nor your chances of staying pregnant with a viable fetus.
If you had not had your pap already, we would give you one at your first prenatal visit."

Re: Hey Girls! Random (maybe stupid?) question..
Thanks! I looked it up too and some people disagree with getting a pap but the majority said it would be fine. I realized it was asked here like 1,000 times but I was looking up the wrong key words in the search . I am going to call my doc tomorrow just to be EXTRA sure.
I am excited but also so nervous... I anticipate it taking a while since I am very irregular and don't want to put it off any longer!

Re: Hey Girls! Random (maybe stupid?) question..
They actually did my annual pap at my first appointment (at 8 w). I think for most people if you are due for it soon, they'll do it then, especially if it's a new doctor and they don't have the records from your most recent.
Good luck to you!!!

Re: Hey Girls! Random (maybe stupid?) question..
No - a PAP should not affect you at all. Usually they do not do them while you are pregnant, but if you haven't had one in a while, they will do one. But mention to your doctor that you are TTC and could very possibly be pregnant.

I'm not too sure but I do know that you are not supposed to have sex at least 24 hours before the pap..It can skew the results!
