we gutted and redid the bathroom
refinished the floors

We had a little savings for this but the work was really done by dh and a few friends, painting, spackling, changing doors, carpets, toilets, light fixtures....

We had some savings to pay for the work. I also budget certain things each month with our paychecks. DH does all the work himself, so that helps too.

We worked on our house for 6 straight months starting on closing day. We had some money left over after closing to hire contractors for some of the work but we did 80% ourselves.
