Hi girls! Moving toward IVF and maybe new RE
Hi all, I am Amanda and DH and I have been ttc #2 since MAy 2007. We were told we needed IVF/ISCI with DD but she is our little miracle. We had a failed IUI last month and are supposed to be on a RE break b/c the clomid I took gave me a 36mm cyst I ovulate regularly our issues are male related. We do not have any insurance coverage for IVF or IUI so we are thinking of taking a loan and just trying IVF. I currently see Dr. Richard Bronson in Setauket/SB but he does not do a lot of IVFs and the pricing is high. So I am looking into Keningsberg LI IVF or SanRoman. So any info on either one of them is greatly appreciated!!! Looking forward to getting to know you all!

I go to LI IVF and see Dr. Brenner. Although he isn't my doctor, I have heard great things about Dr. Kenigsberg. If you are going to take a loan for treatment, I would suggest going straight to IVF since it will give you the best chances of success. GL!

Re: Hi girls! Moving toward IVF and maybe new RE
Welcome !...I am a patient of RSOFNY (Dr.San Roman- Stony Brook office) Was suucessful w/ them in '05 with my DS and just just had my 1st IVF retriveal to try for #2 today....I have always been very happy with the officeand have found the staff in the Stony Brook office to be very caring...As for paying for IVF- NYS just released another grant (or is in the process of it)...Here is a link for you to look at, maybe it can help you
http://www.health.state.ny.us/community/reproductive_health/infertility/demonstration_program/
There are certain income eligibilty req. and you must see one of the listed providers (RSOFNY has not been added to the list but they are participating)...Good Luck to you!

Re: Hi girls! Moving toward IVF and maybe new RE
I use RSofNY Dr. SanRoman as well. Been happy with them and all their staff. Was to start IVF this month but cycle got cancelled because my body just did not cooperate (what else is new). I dont know why but I thought I heard that IVF was 6500 (without the meds) but a lot of women donate their left over meds so that could cut down the cost somewhat. There are also some people that put it on a low interest credit card

Hi Beth!!!!! How are you?? Happy to see you again but sad to see you on this board too. I would love to GTG.
Thanks for the welcome all. I have an appointment with SanRoman on 2/28. I would prefer to use him as his office is closer to my home than Kenigsberg. However, LI IVF does have a lot better success rate than any of other local REs. Since this is a "one shot" deal for us I am leaning toward going some place with the highest rate of success. Then again statistics can be so manipulated. UGH this whole process is mind numbing!

Re: Hi girls! Moving toward IVF and maybe new RE
I started with SanRoman and had no success. He told me there would be no problem getting me PG and after a year of them not listening to my requests and me not getting PG, I left and went to LI-IVF. I am now 18 weeks PG...thanks to Dr. Kenigsberg. I can't say enough good things about him, but be forewarned - he will not be all wine and roses. He is very direct and tells it like it is. But he is an excellent RE and, as you said, has one of the highest success rates on LI.
Good luck with whomever you choose!

Thanks so much- it is very helpful to hear from someone who has seen both. Especially since we will only have one try at this. Plus I am 35 and dh is 40. I really don't want to waste a year.

That was what pizzed me off so much about RSNY - I was 38 at the time and wasted very valuable time....

Re: Hi girls! Moving toward IVF and maybe new RE
Congrats on your pg!!! Do you kn ow what you are having yet? I loved that stage of my pg! Also, is there a lot of waiting for appointments at LI IVF? That is one good thing about my current RE, I am in and out. My DH works in CT and I am the only who cares for DD during the week so she frequently comes with me. Not ideal but... She is pretty good as long as its quick.

I have never waited more than 15 minutes at my RE's office...except one night I had an appointment to talk to Dr. K about some testing I wanted done. Apparently, he hit a ton of traffic getting there and was late, so I waited about 1/2 an hour that night. Monitoring visits are usually no more than a ten minute wait or so. I went to the Melville office cuz it was on my way to work.

Another RSofNY success story. I am PG with twins after my first IVF w/ICSI cycle. I loved the Stony Brook office, everyone was great! For my monitoring I had early appt's and was usually in and out in 20 min. If you want any other info feel free to FM me
