high efficiency washing machines detergent??
I am sad.... well, it's bittersweet....We bought a new house and I have TONS of Purex I got for close to free. I wouldn't have to buy detergent for a long long time and was excited.... well, the washer in the new house is a high efficiency washer, which means I can't use ANY of what I have on hand! I have to buy new detergent, sniffle....
I know nothing about HE or what brands make it or how $$$ it really is. Ugh. Can anyone advise which store carries it and if any good deals ever come on it?
Thanks!

Re: high efficiency washing machines detergent??
I use Kirkland brand from Costco detergent & softner. I find it comparable to Tide--they have a regular and a free formula. I tried a whole bunch of companies before Kirkland--All HE, Purex HE, Wisk HE, Charlies Soap-- none of which I liked. I am picky about detergent though

There's a possibility of damaging the washing machine if you use non HE detergent. It won't be covered by the company if they find out I guess that it's non HE detergent.
For the record, I've used Tide HE, 7th Generation HE and currently Arm & Hammer Essentials HE. I like them all.

From what I understand, what makes a HE machine HE is that it has sensors to detech how many clothes you've put in, how much water is needed (and already in there), etc. These sensors can get thrown off or damaged over time by the consistency of the non-HE detergent.

Re: high efficiency washing machines detergent??
thanks girls! no one ever mentioned only using HE detergent to me when i bought it so I've just been using my normal stuff - going home to read the manual and see if it requires HE detergent.
Guess it's better late then never!
