High Risk OB/GYN
Once I am released from my RE, do I automatically have to go to a high risk OB because I am having twins?
I am thinking of seeing Dr Kofinas but I also need someone to deliver the babies. Any recommendations in Nassau County? I am on the North Shore.

High Risk OB/GYN
Congratulations! OMG so awesome that you're having twins! Your RE will recommend you to the OB/MFM of your choice. Just express to them that you'd like to go to a high risk dr. (then state the reason). I liked Dr. Klein's office in Great Neck (North Shore UH OB/Gyn Assocites). There are a few doctors you will meet there, and they all deliver at NSUH. I liked this practice because you go to them very often, and while I was pregnant with the girls, I was sent to NSUH to their Peri/OB for 4D scans and anatomy scans, etc. No particular reason, just the way it was! I was so lucky, I got to see the babies every 2 weeks or so, as it worked out. Dr. Klein is a character- sometimes off color, but so so funny. Dr. Marti Gilbert is great, and Dr. Alkasab is friendly. Dr. Sternchos delivered my babies, and I got to know him well Good luck!

Re: High Risk OB/GYN
Depends on your insurance I think and your condition. My insurance didn't care if I saw a maternal fetal medicine specialist even though I wasn't high risk per say so I did just to be cautious and I was VERY happy with my decision.

Re: High Risk OB/GYN
I did not see a separate MFM, just a high risk OB (Great Neck OBGYN, delivered at NSUH)

Re: High Risk OB/GYN
Dr.Kofinas is fantastic but if you are going to see him, he will set you up with an ob he works with. You should see him ASAP.

.
No, that does not automatically make you high risk. It depends on other factors, but your obgyn could make the referral.
