Hiring - life insurance sales
DH's company has openings for life insurance salesmen. It's a plus if currently licensed but training is available. He covers Suffolk County as the general agent for the Knights of Columbus Life Insurance. It's a Catholic Fraternal organization with a long history - top rated insurance company. Field agents need to be eligible to join the organization since it's a fraternal which means Catholic men over 18 years of age. If you want more info you can go to K of C insurance careers or call him direct at 631-736-0236. Ask for Larry. Edited to add - FM me if you want his e-mail address to send a resume.

Re: Hiring - life insurance sales
How is life insurance sales? I get emails from different companies almost daily for insurance jobs but always heard its like a pyramid operation. Just curious. Is it all commission based? I just got an email from aflec that they saw my resume on career builder but I just feel like they send an email to anyone I hopes of getting someone to respond. Just wondering if there are benefits with a job like this and how salary is determined.

A tough question to answer without a really long, detailed response. For the most part your major insurance companies are commission based. It can be extremely lucrative it you're willing to work hard but it's not something you'll make money at working part time. You need to commit yourself to it full time. You need to be highly motivated, a self-starter, and able to work without someone looking over your shoulder. I can't say what Aflec's approach is but some companies do reach out to just about anyone, offering to train. They expect you to provide your own leads/clients and direct you towards friends and family as initial sales while you build your client base. When DH first started at one of the major big name insurance companies he was handed the phone book and told to start at A and work his way to Z - those were his "leads". DH's company is different in that it's a fraternal organization. Some members join just to take advantage of the great insurance policies offered and all are aware of the insurance benefits to the members are more receptive than someone receiving a cold-call. The biggest thing to consider if you want to get into insurance is the level of training and the quality of the products. Benefits will vary as is the case with any industry.
