If you would like to go, I think it's fine. Everyone has different limits depending on the hall and how big people's family are.
I think it's fine. I would not invite just the one couple though.

You definitely don't have to go.
No one knows what your obligations are that weekend. YOu might have a wedding on FH's side, righhhhht????
Anyway, if you feel badly about not going, then send a gift (GC or cash equivalent.)

almost same situation.
Dh and i didnt go to the wedding. we sent a gift
and we didnt invite them to ours..

I wouldn't go, buy them a gift card or "traditional wedding gift" like a picture frame or piece of crystal from somewhere like BBB, and call it a day.
Tell your family if they have a prob with it that they can pay for the additional 50-60 guests at your wedding.

Don't go. Send a gift that runs around $50 (frame, keepsake of some sort) Actually, somebody gave me a thing from things remembered. It is a wooded box that we can put pictures in and a picture goes on the front. It is engraved with our names and wedding date.
