Hofstra decided to get rid of their football program
I understand the decision, but as an alum it makes me a little sad.

Me too!
I'm kind of surprised given the amount of guys that went pro. But it's not like HU ever really fostered a 'school spirit' sentimentality.

They should have given them a year to re-vamp the progam, raise ticket sales and garner some support. Really sad decision.

I have to admit, i am an alumni and so id DH, while we knew a lot of the football players, even 1 that went pro, we never went to a game... that is one thing Hofstra did not have though, school spirit was not as high as other Colleges are out of contol!

raising ticket sales for something that is poorly attended to begin with, won't work.
The program loses approx. 4.5 PER YEAR... now that money will be reallocated towards academics and need-base scholarships. a hard decision, but I am totally supportive of it.
