Holbrook residents...

not to scare you, but I saw a post a few days ago about helicopters in the area...
Watch News 12. I just saw that there were 2 homes that a man got into (they think it was the same guy, but they haven't caught him). They think both of the houses were unlocked. One he went into a womans bedroom, took her out of bed and dragged her outside. The other, he went into the bedroom, and when the woman woke up he punched her in the nose and broke it.

I didn't get the WHOLE story, so try to watch News 12 for more info...and BE CAREFUL!!!!

Re: Holbrook residents...

Personally, I ALWAYS have my doors locked. I don't know why anyone would go to bed without them locked.
It is scary because I also live right around the corner. I am sure this guy has stalked them to know they were alone. I hope they get him.

Lisa-I keep thinking about this guy we saw riding his bike down the street that night when we were looking out the window. My dh said that poor kid was probably late for curfew, but you never know!!

I always have my doors locked when I am in for the night or in bed obviously. I meant that I am probably going to keep them locked during the day as well for a while to be on the safe side.

Re: Holbrook residents...

I only moved to holbrook 10 months ago and on Easter sunday while I was at my parents someone broke into my car.in my driveway..I was like "welcome to the neighborhood". I feel very safe here, but I always see the same 3-4 homeless (?) people walking around town. My husband always yells at me for keeping the doors locked..I am showing him the post!

This is awful that this is happening but coming from a queens girl..I cant imagine not locking your doors at any time! I mean I guess there are places where you can do this but why take the chance????? It just sounds sooooooo odd to me!

I have lived here all my life and nothing bad really happens. This is a big surprise.

and YES, I do see those homeless (?) guys walking around all the time. One of them had a sweatshirt on today in the horrid humidity.

Re: Holbrook residents...

Ok, these posts about Holbrook are really scaring me. We are officially going to be moved in tomorrow. We are living in an apartment complex, and I have to say, I HATE that. I have never felt comfortable in apartment complexes because you don't know what kind of weirdos live there. And I really do not like that to get to our apartment, I have to walk through a corridor from one outside area to another. I just keep thinking that it's the perfect place for someone to rape me (I know it sounds terrible, but that's how I think). When I told JT that I was nervous about that, he just dismissed me. I don't know. I've lived in shady areas before (in Massachusetts we had a drive-by shooting in our complex), and even before I read these posts, I just got a bad feeling about our complex. I didn't feel that way until I got the keys the other day. Hopefully it is just that "fear of the unknown". Chat Icon

Not to sound mean but please don't feel sorry for him. He makes more money than you and I, he has been there over 15 years and people know him and he is not as bad off as you think he is.

Like I said, I have lived in Holbrook over 30 years and nothing really happens here. I would not be scared, but be aware. Just because nothing really bad HAS happened, I wouldn't taken it for granted that it won't. Holbrook is one of the better towns around and you are lucky to moving here.
WELCOME!!

Holbrook is definitely a great place to live. Things like this will occasionally happen anywhere. From the best town to the worst. I lived in a condo out here for a few years and I just recently bought a house. Believe me I never would have bought a house here if I didn't think it was a safe, good area. I have 3 kids so that wasn't going to happen. I hope no one is feeling like this is a bad place. It definitely isn't. I love it here!Chat Icon

Yes guys, that is a gimmick (the weaving, the begging). My neighbor does Real Estate and she sold him his 3rd home, YES 3rd home!! His wife drops him off there everyday and picks him up in her brand new cadillac. He's not pathetic in the sense that he needs help, he's pathetic because he's preying on the kindess of others. My idiot SIL used to make him hot dogs, food, etc. and bring it to him. Even after what we told her, she said we were "heartless" and that he really needed helpChat Icon

I agree!! I don't understand why the town ALLOWS him to do this, especially if they KNOW he has 3 homes!!
Do you ever notice that he NEVER comes out in bad weather??!! Only when it is beautiful out!!
