This year I am spending $0! DD is only 18 months, and she has no idea who she gets what from. She will get plenty from other family members. Am I a bad mom? Chat Icon

Re: Holiday Shopping & Spending (Poll)

we spent less than $200 on DS and $40 per niece/nephew.

we have a bigger family, they all get so much. there is no need (or room) for mega spending in our family.

Re: Holiday Shopping & Spending (Poll)

Depends on the kid-we spend far less on our little ones than we did on the 5 year old. Probably averages to about $300 per kid.

Re: Holiday Shopping & Spending (Poll)

We only have one child and spent $270. We went a little overboard, considering how much more he will be getting from family and friends.

I voted under $100, our DS is only 4 months so he doesn't know whats going on, we just picked him up a couple of infant toys. we also had 10 kids in our family to buy for this year (nieces, nephew, and cousins' kids) and we spent about 25 on each.

Re: Holiday Shopping & Spending (Poll)

We ended up spending about $165 per kid. My original budget was 150 per kid, but I ended up finding some to good to pass up deals that changed our plans. On our friends/neighbors I spent about 18 per kid for 8 other kids and some for donation too.

I probably spent around $500 on our DD. I always go a little overboard at Xmas but it is so much fun being Santa, it's hard to not spoil her one time a year. DH thinks I am nuts because we have so much family and she gets a lot but I can't help it. Chat Icon

Re: Holiday Shopping & Spending (Poll)

I voted $100-200

DS is only 6 1/2 mths... so we said we would only get a few things... but then as I've been shopping I got caught up with everything! PLUS we have a niece who is only 3 mths younger so some things I would pick up for her and then get a second one for DS.

Re: Holiday Shopping & Spending (Poll)

I probably spent a little over $100. DD is 2 months but we don't have many toys. She is getting toys good for many developmental stages.

Just over $100 but DD will only be 8 months. She got the laugh and learn home plus two smaller toys and a few stocking stuffers. I'm afraid to see how much she'll get from family though.

Not at all!! I didn't spend a lot on my 16 month old because he has no clue. I got a few really inexpensive things (balls, etc.). I'm sure your dd has way too many toys like most kids!! I am going to give some money too for his savings account!!

We spent about $200. But we got her a lot of good gifts that should last her for awhile developmentally.

Re: Holiday Shopping & Spending (Poll)

We probably spend about $150 total on them. $30 per parent and my brother and nephew. We are broke this year. We maybe spent $100 on each other. And that's just clothes we both desperately needed.

DD gets one toy... $20.
DS got a train table $110. We also got him a $30 fishing toy before we found the table.
Spent max $30 per other kids ($60 per godchild).

For those who checked over $500 -- WHat are you buying???

We probably spent less than $50 but DS is 9 months old and a) would rather play with tissue paper and boxes than toys and b)will probably get tons of stuff from grandparents. As he gets older Im sure Santa will bring more

We are getting each son an ipad 1.

Without the ipads, we probably spent $250 per child. The big gift was a playhouse and ride on Lightning McQueen.

When we lived in NYC, we stored toys in my parent's basement.

We now live in a large single family house and we have tons of empty space. We went from 800sf in Manhattan to a 6,000 sf house. Most all our new friends have a lot more toys than our kids.

Less than $100.

He will get a lot from family, so we didn't feel the need to buy more than a few items for him to open Christmas morning.

Re: Holiday Shopping & Spending (Poll)

Over $500...I know it sounds crazy, but we got DD and IPAD mini, and then a ton of other stuff! I also have a one month old that I got a few things, obviously nothing compared to my two snd a half year old, but I needed some stuff from Santa! If you take out the iPad mini, we probably spent about $400

Holiday Shopping & Spending (Poll)

I spent between $20-30 for each of my kids.

We open presents Christmas morning at my parents house - we spend the night there - and my mom goes insane. Between family and DS1's b-day being on Friday - I didn't spend a lot on them. I usually buy DS 1 things in the summer since he gets so much now!

ETA - When he gets older, I can see myself spending more.

I forgot - it's more like $40-50 per kid because we bought them presents for a SAnta party last weekend as well.
