holidays
This is first holiday season w/o my mom. Then shortly after will be her one year anniversary. I am just not very happy, right now.
I am trying though, for her and her memory. I miss you mom.
How is everyone else doing??

Re: holidays
My mom is gone 1 1/2 years now and it still hurts especially around the holidays. She used to love to cook & bake for the holidays.

Re: holidays
this will be my third holiday season without her and i still can't believe she won't be around to make her cookies for everyone. the last two thanksgivings i've said "i'll carry on the tradition and bake all she baked" but i just can't bring myself to do it. i hate it.

Re: holidays
My mom died many years ago in January. The entire holiday season is rough for me. I usually grin and pretend things are okay and then break down after the season is over. Last year was particularly tough because my dad is also gone, and I spent so much time with my ILs. I am grateful for them and know how important my DH's family is to him, but it just reminds me of what I don't have anymore.
My advice is to get through the holidays however you feel most comfortable. If that means continuing traditions, or starting new ones, or spending time with friends and family, or spending some time alone. Remember that everyone gets through the tough times like this very differently.
Take care!

Re: holidays
This is my first holiday season without my Mom as well...and shortly into the new year will be the 1 yr anniversary of her death as well. I am dreading the holidays and just cant get into them the way we normally would. My Mom "made" Christmas what it was for our family. to everyone.

Re: holidays
I know how you feel. My Dad just passed away on Sept 7 only six weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. Its still a shock.
The thought of Thanksgiving and Christmas make me sick to my stomach. I am traveling tomorrow to FL to my parent's retirement home. I'm glad to be going to Florida to see my mom and brother, but sick thinking about walking into their condo since my dad isn't there and it will be the first time going to FL without him there. He was always the one that picked us up at the airport so from the time I arrive it is going to be very hard.
Hugs to you!
