home inspections

DH and i dont know where to begin to pick a home inspector. I have some recommendations (am always open for more) but was wondering if you can ask inspectors for sample reports and then decide who to work with after seeing their reports??
will they think im crazy for asking this or is it common practice?

unless you have seen the house- I find the reports to be confusing

I recommend Tony Sabatino - Sundance home inspections

he has done most of my buyers inspections, my mortgage lenders inspection and he will do my personal home inspection

Many girls on here have used him as well

I used Tony. I highly recommend him. My dad was there while he did the inspection. Tony has a background in construction, as does my dad, so while going through the house I felt very comfortable he would catch all the minor things I knew my dad was already aware of and he did.

my dad used to do construction so he knows what to look for, but unfortunately he lives out of state. he knows how to read/interpret the reports which is why i was asking if we could get a sample so he can see which ones he thinks are best and use that person.

I used Tony and was really happy with him. He's a no BS kind of guy. Told us what to be concerned about and what were simple things to fix (and even how to fix them). He even calmed me after the fact when I was worried about something. He was really great. Definitely recommend him.

Another vote for Tony! We bought a house that was in the process of being renovated by the seller who happened to be a contractor. Tony came and did the initial inspection and offered to come back for FREE when all the work was finished to ensure it was done properly! Great guy, very knowledgeable.
