Home of Save-a-Pet Dori Scofield Burns Down - 10 Animals Killed in the Blaze.
(08/06/08) STONY BROOK - Several dogs and cats were killed in a blaze in Stony Brook.
The fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Blydenburgh Lane.
Ten pets were inside the home at the time of the blaze, but they were not able to be saved.
The home was owned by Dori Scofield, the founder of the Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue Shelter.
Scofield says she is thankful that her children or husband were not home at the time of the blaze. She says she is shocked at the destruction from the fire and is devastated that her dog, who she says was her best friend, is gone.

So sad... there was a video of her being interviewed on news 12, you can see she's just devistated.
I cannot imagine going out to dinner, being gone for an hour and come home to find my house is burned down, all my dogs are killed and any and every memory I had destroyed.
I would be a basket case.

That is my biggest fear too- so scary.
And those poor animails.. my God how awful!

so sad we actually go to the same hairdresser and she is such a sweet woman. She would bring in to the salon her big dog I forgot his name and he was such a sweet loving dog that she rescued!! My heart goes out to her and her family. So sad
