Home Owners Insurance

What a pain!!!!!!!!!!

Because of Hurricane Katrina, Liberty Mutual & All-State no longer insure new policy holders on Long Island.

I need help from LIF that purchased Home Owner's Insurance (HOI) within the last 6 months.

STATE FARM - I called them, so far this is the only quote I have.

GEICO - doesn't do HOI.

I want to get a few quotes. Any other recommendations?

Thanks!!

Re: Home Owners Insurance

I'm surprised. Geico offers HOI. I think they use Travelers. You may want to go to Travelers.

We are using travelers, they gave us the lowest quote for HOI.

Re: Home Owners Insurance

Call a private insurance company - we got ours through Sawyer Insurance in Sayville and we pay $800/year. I have no idea what company we have off the top of my head.

Re: Home Owners Insurance

I have used The Hartford for 12 years for auto insurance and just added our homeowners insurance. they saved us $400 a year for the homeowners insurance and $400 on our car insurance (a multi policy discount)
The reason we changed was because Allstate rasied our premiums $300 in one year and over the past 4 years tit has gone up $600!! Time to switch!!

Allstate is getting out of control. FH and I have our car insurance under them - but once we get married and get our house, we are switching

My mom called Liberty Mutual in early July and they quoted her for a new policy. She had All State and they dropped her since they are no longer insuring homeowners on LI.

Geico only offers limited HOI to certain parts of LI.. We called for a quote recently when we changed out Auto & bike policy & they do not service our neighborhood yet (W babylon). We have Lib Mutual since we moved in a few months before Katrina, but we are actually looking to get rid of them as I am not satisfied with their service.

I wish I had more info.Chat Icon

Re: Home Owners Insurance

I got quoted $1,008 with State Farm and just called Geico and the Traveler's no longer services Nassau or Suffolk County, but they do have another policy through American Families, and my quote was...$3,500 for the year!!!!! That is with no previous claims, bankruptcy, etc. We are going to stick with State Farm.
