Home owners insure... Where to begin??
Shopping for home owners insurance and I have no idea what I'm looking for or what to do. Help??

Basically, just call around insurance companies and say that your looking around for homeowners insurance. You'll be asked a bunch of questions such as the address of the home, if you know the square footage, what the home is made of etc. You might not know all the answers to their questions but the agent can get most of it from public records based on the address.
The best place to start is with calling whomever your car insurance us through if this is something you have.
When I was checking around 2 month ago I found that liberty mutual was giving me the best rate.

We used the same as our car insurance. We got a great rate since we already had a policy.

Our friend is an insurance broker, so I just called him and got a great quote, plus Im like giving my business to friends.

We are under Contract with the 4bd 2 bath house on Xavier in Oceanside!!! We are very excited about it and hopefully all goes well and are able to close July 2nd!

I called a bunch of places as well. Geico was the most expensive for me. Allstate ended being the least expensive. Good luck.

I called around and requested some online quotes. the best bet ended up being a carrier my car ins co dealth with. (Nationwide, but they wouldn't cover us b/c we are in a coastal town although not near water at all.)
