home parties - tupperware, etc.
I thought of this after the purse party came up in another post.
Do you feel like you HAVE to buy something when you go to one of those home parties (Pampered Chef, Tupperware, etc.)? I have a friend who has had lots of them, and even when I go just to see my friends, with no intention to buy, I end up buying something. Do you ever just go to socialize and are successful in NOT buying?
If I don't want to buy, I usually don't go.

I am not a fan of these parties at all. I can't tell you how many sex toys, tupperware, kitchen chef things I have had to buy. I hate declining though, then I feel like the host feels like I am trying to break away.
I feel like if you go, you should buy.

I feel obligated to make purchases from these types of parties...it's kind of the point.

Re: home parties - tupperware, etc.
Pefect timing....
Friday night I am having a "Celebrations" Party..(Lilian Vernon)...if you would like to come to the party, FM me and I will give you the directions. It starts at 7:30...
I have told my guests NOT to feel obligated to purchase anything.....some of my friends can afford to and other's can't. The friends who can't afford said thank you and that they won't feel pressured but will come to just have a change of pace...I am not looking for free gifts or such....I have gone to these parties and have spent money and some others I spent nothing..... I mainly want to do this to have a festive evening to start the holiday season. I am serving food and wine and putting on holiday music and hope the ladies stay after the 'show'...
Again, if you want to come...don't feel obligated to purchase anything!!!

EXACTLY how I feel, although a friend of mine had now had FOUR Pampered Chef parties and I refuse to go after #2 because she didn't RSVP to either of my showers (no show/no gift). I think it should go both ways
