Home Security System Company Recommendation
hi! :)
closing on Thursday and we need the existing alarm system repaired and need to hire a company to monitor the system. any recommendations??

We use Lowitt. The monthly monitoring is about half what ADT and Brinks quoted us.

We use VMS Security. Do a search on the topic on this board - the question comes up a couple times a month and there are a lot of recommendations.

When we wanted to upgrade our system from the old silver tape on the windows we had a bunch of companies come in and look around and tell us what they thought we should do. Then we thought about the different options, called a few back to see how the price would change with what we wanted added or removed and then went from there.
Like it was important to me that all the downstairs windows have glass break sensors on them. Some of the companies don't offer those anymore, they have a whole room sensor that is triggered when it hears glass break. But with little kids in the house I was concerned about false alarms if they dropped glasses and plates.

Most big companies will come in and suggest what's best or ask what you want. They should do most of the installation for free up to a certain number of protection points and key pads. They charge you by month and make you sign a contract for a certain number of years. GL!

We use Protection One and I do NOT recommend them! We pay $35 a month for them which includes a service contract and when we had a problem they said they couldn't send someone out for a week but they would call to make an appointment.
2 weeks later someone randomly shows up at our door without an appointment! And gave me a total attitude when I said I was leaving and could not stay.
I cannot wait to switch...

the glass sensor thing is PIA I used to babysit for this kid who would scream on top of his lungs and it would set them off. the window ones are so much better then the "room sensor" for glass, if you have kids. Even dog barks can set them off if they are high pitched enough

We have ADT. They gave us a system for free...and just $99 to activate, $35.99 a month.

the system is already there but i know that something needs to be repaired. - a wire or cut or something.. got damaged during home improvement project.. or so they say. so i guess we'll see once we get someone in there.
