Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

We have a new 2012 Honda Accord and LOVE it. Got a very VERY well priced lease- $325 for the special edition w/ leather and heated seats.. NO money down at all.

I would never buy a Hyundai... I don't know why- it's probably some ridiculous brand association. This is my 5th Honda.. Love 'em.

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

I have a 2011 Honda Accord and have not had any issues with it at all. I has leather, heated seats, sunroof, etc... So it would be a bit more price wise then a Hyundai.

I had a 2000 Hyundai Elantra for 6 years. If you asked me back then, do I recommend a Hyundai, I would of said no way! I have heard they have come a long way though. The Sonata is really nice looking and I heard it runs great. DH and I just went and test drove a Santa Fe, since we are in the market for a SUV. I wasn't crazy about it, but I know others who own one and love it. I think the only Hyundai I would buy would be the Sonata.

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

Gosh, I missed my Hyundai (Elantra). I had 160,000 miles on it when my dh made me sell it for a Toyota (Corolla). I actually downsized - the car didn't have all the features I was use to and it was a smaller car. Hyundai all the way, if I could choose by myself I would have gotten a newer Elantra.

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

My DH has a huyndai with over 200K miles on it and it is still going strong.
He has never had one issue with it- all he has done was routine maintainence

IMO Hyundai's are top notch

I find Honda's to be overpriced and style wise, the hyundai's are a lot nicer looking IMO

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

Honda's have been out of our price range when we buy.

We have a family of Hyundai products -

MIL - Elantra
FIL - Tuscon
BIL - Santa Fe
DH - Santa Fe
Me - Santa Fe

We have never had any issues, if repairs are needed (over time), they are very reasonably priced for parts. The cars are affordable and last.

I just traded in a 2004 Santa Fe for a 2012 and love the car!

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

We have a Hyundai Elantra 2012 and we love it. My sister has also owned a Hyundai Santa Fe and she loved it. She likes to switch cars a lot so she traded it in for a Honda CRV and she hated the CRV. My parents have a 2011 Sonata that they love. Really for the price, the features that come included and the warranty you can't go wrong.

We just recently did a road trip and were getting close to 40MPG on our Elantra. Love itChat Icon

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

I do think Honda hasn't done a thing about design but the cars are still excellent.

I have had many Hondas and recently leased an Elantra. Liking it a lot. No problems with it.

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

Resale value is my #1 determining factor when buying a car. I have never purchased brand new; however, if you plan to run the car into the ground I dont think that really matters. I usually buy a new used car every 5ish years.

I have owned 2 Hondas and currently an Acura. I have loved all of them (especially their resale value).

I do think Hyundai's have come a long way and are a strong contender.

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

Honda is a proven winner in quality and longevity for their car/engine.

Hyundai has come a long way and I love their new designs.

In the end, your residual value is much greater with a Honda.

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

I own a Honda Odyssey and a Hyundai Tuscon. Before we bought the Odyssey we had a Santa Fe, which we sold to my inlaws.

I love my Hyundais. They drive great, are such a great value, and I would definitely buy another one.

The only reason we bought the Honda is that Hyundai doesn't make a minivan anymore.

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

I bought a Hyundai Accent in 2000. It was new and the only car out there at the time that got over 40 mpg. I drove it until it died at 106,000 miles. I have a 1999 Honda CRV with 215,000 miles it and it's going strong still. We also own a 2002 Accord with 115,000 and it's doing beautifully.
While I loved my Accent, I would choose Honda over Hyundai.

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

I just recently bought a 2003 Santa FE LX with every option - including leather and heated seats, and I have to say that I love this truck. I have had my share of Hondas in the 23 years that I have been driving and I have to say that Hyundai really makes a better car, a more stylish car, and I have to tell you that the reliability is there. Also the 10 year 100k warranty that Hyundai offers is a lot better than 3 years and 36k that Honda offers. No offense to the Honda owners, but I would prefer a 2012 Sonata over the 2012 Accord any day. I have a few friends that have the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Sonata and they love them. My neighbor on one side has an 06 black tuscon and my neighbor on the other side has a 2006 blue tuscon. They both have not had any problems. There is also a 2012 Grey Sonata next door too.

Go for the Hyundai

Re: Honda v Hyundai? Which to choose?

Love my Veracruz and the bumper to bumper 60,000 warranty (most, if not all, are below this now).

My IL's are on their second set, my BIL, two SIL's and DH's Aunt all have them. I only looked because of the warranty. Last car I had was GMC and it was five years or 36,000 miles.
