Re: Honest opinions about people using their snow blower at 5:30am
Not rude AT ALL! If someone has the luxury of going to work at 8 am that is not your problem! My DH leaves for work at 5:45 am everyday and so do I sometimes. If we worked late I would have no problem using my snow blower when we got home, even if it was 8 - 11 pm. If my neighbors get home at 5 then good for them!!!!!

Re: Honest opinions about people using their snow blower at 5:30am
I have the same issue. DH leaves for work at 5:30 and he needs to dig out. If he can use the shovel he will, but that was just impossible yesterday.
Although, yesterday our neighbors across the street were up at 4:30 digging out with their shovels, and that woke me up for some reason. I think they were trying to be polite, because they do have a snowblower, so I guess it didnt really matter in the end. And then of course the plow came through and buried them in.

Re: Honest opinions about people using their snow blower at 5:30am
If I knew what he did for a living I think I'd be irritated but get over it bc I know he was doing it for good reason...just bc of the possibility of DD waking up...if it was some azz that just felt like it at 530 I'd be out there mowing him down with my car..

With a weather issue where you have to get to work, you gotta do what you gotta do. I wouldn't be mad

Wouldn't bother me in the least, whether the person was a cop or a Burger King cook. If someone has a place to go, that's their business.
I'd also think that maybe they had a surgery set at the hospital and maybe it wasn't canceled and was still on.....so many reasons.
I wouldn't mind in the least.

Re: Honest opinions about people using their snow blower at 5:30am
its funny you posted this. we had a little incident about this. one of our new neighbors called the cops on another neighbor running his snowblower at around 6:30 AM. the cops show up but didn't say a word to the neighbor using the snowblower. instead rings the bell of the person who filed the complaint.
regardless of profession, you got do what you got do to get to work. especially in this economy. it doesn't snow every day. i slept through all the snowblowers going off.

OMG that is crazy! Why waste the cops time when there are probably so many accidents in the snow that the cops have to attend to? What did he expect the poor guy to do - go to work late and possibly lose $$ so he can sleep in????

If someone has to work (even if it's not in the emergency field, but they need to support their family), I don't see a problem with running the snowblower.
Agreed. It's winter, people don't stop working because of snow. Do what ya gotta do. Frankly, I'd rather hear a snow blower for a few minutes than the sound of a shovel hitting snow and pavement for a half hour.

I don't think it's rude since it's not done every week. With the weather we've been having I think it's understandable.
Same here.

IMO totally acceptable - You have to get to work in the morning, it's a few times a year - it's not like he's starting up the lawn mower every saturday morning at 5:30 - KWIM?

Re: Honest opinions about people using their snow blower at 5:30am
While i don't think it is *rude" it is a little inconsiderate to all your neighbors who are sleeping. He could have just used a shovel then nobody woulda had to worry about the noise. But if it really wasn't that loud, then it shouldn't have bothered anyone anyway.

Re: Honest opinions about people using their snow blower at 5:30am
We shovel when there is just a few inches but if there is is a lot of snow we would be out there for hours shoveling. (We have 160 feet of sidewalk and a double driveway plus a walkway and 12 stairs.)
