Honest opinions on girl name...
We have been talking about the name Amelie. DH Loves the name and I think it's sweet, but think she will always be called Emily or Amelia... I would hate for her to have to correct people constantly.
Oh and it is pronounced Ahh-melee

I think its very pretty but i have to admit before i got to the bottom of your post i was wondering if it was emily or amelia i never would have known it was pronounced that way if you had not written it but it is still beautiful and unique

I love it! I don't think it would be mispronounced that much, but I can be wrong. It really is beautiful though!

i love that name but would not write it with the "a" at the end bc then I think you would get amelia - the "e" at the end is more amelie that is traditional .
and yes, she will probably have to correct people sometimes but it can be worth it to have a really nice name

I think it is a really pretty name and I pronounced it in my head correctly coming out of the gate so I think most people will too.

I like it! I didnt know how to say it at first, but it's fine. You just tell people. The name I want for our DD (if we have one) people will probably mispronouce at first.
If you love it, go for it!

a coworker of DH named their daughter this. i think its beautiful.
however if you dont want her to have to constantly correct people, you may want to pick a different name. i can def see that one being mispronounced more than its correctly pronounced.

I stayed away from a few names I loved for that reason.

i LOVE that name. i grew up with a pretty easy name to pronounce, so i thought. i went through my whole childhood correcting ppl and still do. even simple names get butchered, so my advice would be to just give her that name!
ps-my dd has a variation of that name and i've had to correct many ppl. i guess you just get used to it.

I automatically say it the way it's supposed to be pronounced.

Haha - thanks you just proved my point
... I spelled it with an e, but I think people will just read it with an a at the end because that's what they are used to.
