Re: Hospital Bag List--Anyone have it?
Here is the main list that I worked off of when I had DD.
For Mom and Baby >3-4 nightgowns and/or pajamas ( I only used one set) >3-4 bras (nursing bras if you plan to breastfeed) (I only brought two) >6 pairs of underpants (if you haven’t gotten maternity underwear, definitely make sure that you have them for the hospital – I would have died without them after the section as regular underwear would have rubbed on the incision – also I got black so that they wouldn’t get stained. Some hospitals give you special “mesh” underwear but mine didn’t) >Robe >Slippers >Socks (some with non-skid bottom) >Toiletries: toothbrush/toothpaste, soap, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, lotion, brush, Blistex, scented shower gel/body spray (to feel good after delivery) >Shoes for the shower – it was a communal shower, so I was very glad that I had flip flops >Scrunchies >Pillow – I was so glad that I had my own pillow – the ones that they had were very thin and had a plastic coating. Just make sure that if you do bring a pillow, you bring a colored case so that they don’t throw yours in with their laundry. >Towels and washcloth – the towels were so small! They were more like hand towels and not soft – it was really nice having my own towels. >Bfing supplies – breastpads, lanolin, boppy >Your own pads >Makeup >Snacks – for the middle of the night when you are up feeding and get hungry. >Money for vending machines >Phone card >Magazines >List of people and phone numbers to call >Camera/film – make sure the battery for the digital is charged! >Camcorder/tapes >Going home outfit >Clothes for baby (T-shirt, socks, hat, sleeping gown) >Going home outfit for baby >Blanket for bringing baby home >Car seat >Lysol – came in handy with sharing a bathroom >Anti-bacterial soap – see above
Miscellaneous items: >Watch or small clock >Insurance information >Hospital pre-registration forms >Change of clothes & toiletries for husband
Things to be used during labor: >Small CD player & soothing music >Focal point >Tennis ball >Lotion for massage >Watch >Paper/pen >Hard candy to keep mouth moist – once you are in labor, you can’t eat anything – I also brought gum >An activity to keep busy during early labor >Snacks for DH incase you are there a long time (especially if is the middle of the night!)
