House Hunters - what are you most looking forward to?

I am looking forward to finally investing in good furniture. For the past few years I have been buying cheap stuff because I havent owned and didnt want to buy good stuff until I know it had a permanent home.

A dishwasher. I am so sick of doing dishes and DH stinks at it. I always wind up re-washing what he has done.

Entertaining. Right now our place is too small and a PITA to get to. Can't wait to have a party!

I completely agree!

I am most looking forward to getting good furniture. I am done with IKEA for furniture. :) Although, I am realizing it may take a while to do since the good stuff is pricey. But we started out with a new sofa, loveseat and chair. That is good for now.

I am also looking forward to entertaining. Our apartment is good for the two of us but definitely doesn't have room for entertaining. I can't wait to have a BBQ this summer or something!!!

ETA: Not hearing my neighbor upstairs jumping of vacuuming in the middle of the night.

And DH's favorite, not having to worry about getting a parking spot!

Being able to actually call our place home. I've realized that no matter how wonderful an apt is...someone is always there to remind you "You just pay rent".

I'm looking forward to entertaining, esp. with holding the holiday's for our families.

I'm looking forward to no longer hearing my noisy neighbors downstairs thru all hours of the night.

I'm looking forward to seeing my husband! 2-3 times a week he goes to his parent's house to play drums b/c we can't have them in the apt., but that now that we have 4 br, he'll be taking one over for his drums, so he won't be leaving. He'll just be upstairs!

I'm looking forward to having an asset behind my name, instead of thousands of debt into rent that I'll never get to see!

I am looking forward to having a larger kitchen with more counter space. I also look forward to having my own separate office especially since I will be working from home 2-3 days a week beginning this summer. I am also looking forward to the additional storage space, be it a garage, attic and/or basement!

Having our privacy back (we are currently staying with my parentals while we hunt)

decorating and making the house a home

Looking forward to decorating and designing one to our taste.........but most of all, I look forward to hosting Christmas in our own home for once.

I cannot wait for that.....

Can I answer what I like best about having a home?

I love being able to entertain in our backyard - that was one thing our condo was really lacking. Now we have a pool and we are able to have pool parties!

I love having extra guest rooms so that when we entertain our friends and their children can stay over.

I love having a fireplace even though we havent used it yet (maybe if it ever gets cold this winter!).

I love having a double oven and a gas stove again!

I love being able to buy nice furniture and get custom window treatments.

I love living in a neighborhood and meeting all of my neighbors.

And most of all i just love feeling settled.

Having a backyard, deck, terrace... anything we can put a BBQ on!!!! I can't wait for that.

A kitchen that isn't 2x2 (I have a galley kitchen now). After almost 2 years it's really starting to get on my nerves.

Being able to paint... living in an all white apt is sooooo boring.

Doors that actually close and don't get stuck shut from 27 coats of paint on them.

And lastly, spare bedrooms. We are in a 1-bedroom apt now and since we love entertaining and having people over we always have friends staying on the couch or in the living area on an air mattress. Can't wait to tell people they can sleep in the "guest room"!

-Being able to buy a nice bedroom set, we only have room for a small dresser.

2. more than 1 bathroom
3. a garage
4. decorating/painting/projects
5. having a yard and kick azz BBQ
6. being able to have house guests stay over and entertaining in general
7. having an office - DH's dream
8. buying really nice furniture, can't wait to get a new bedroom set!!
9. a nice big kitchen is a MUST! a gourmet kitchen with cherry cabinets and granite is both of our dream.
10. a REAL closet in the master bedroom


ETA: 11. we really want a fireplace

I can't wait for the day we final move in (we close next Thursday). It just doesn't seem real yet.

We have a one bedroom coop now , but I'm looking forward to

-extra bedrooms
-a bigger kitchen
-an upstairs
-a basement to make it into a family room
-a big yard where I can lounge outside
we have
-a washer / dryer
- an extra bathroom
-a DRIVEWAY!!!!

EVERYTHING!!!

I am so not cut out for apt., condo, coop living or even the tiny house we came from.

1. Ability to entertain my entire extended family on holidays instead of always going somewhere else.

2. To decroate, make renovations exactly the way we wanted.

3. Two fireplaces

4. Not hearing neighbors at all, houses are further apart.

5. Double driveway, don't have to shuffle cars at night.

6. More than one bathroom.

7. A place we bought together.

8. My washer and dryer are in the kitchen

9. Large kitchen, formal large diningroom, separate den/livingroom.

Ok I know you didn't ask new homeowners, but I'll jump in anyways

For us the best part of our new home was

-being able to blast the TV as loud as we want without having to worry about our landlord hearing

-our giant backyard to be able to enjoy the beautiful days in

-painting the walls and planning the furniture, without having to worry about "when I move"

-being able to make changes to the place knowing it is ours

not being able to see the nearest neighbor

not having people pop over just to see us without calling ( big plus of looking for a farm in the stix)

having kennels for the dogs

dh having his own office and pool room in the basement now he can make all the noise he wants and i dont have to listen to it

finally getting a sewing room.

having more space.

the big fireplace we're putting in our log cabin. (always wanted to live in a log cabin)
