Chat Icon Chat Icon not sure what the problem is here. is it better to let them crash in old planes?

I wonder if Breitbart saw this tidbit
The Pentagon began supplying the planes to her predecessor as Speaker, Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., as part of beefed-up post-Sept. 11, 2001 security steps.

I guess the hypocrisy is only in the idea that the plane is new...and not that congressional leaders are using them then. Chat Icon

Re: House provides $200M for gov't VIP jets

my issue is that they made such a big stink that the heads of the auto companies flew private jets $$$$.
and now the gov't is being fiscally irresponsible by spending $$$$$$$ on these planes.

I don't like the idea of high ranking govt officials on a commerical airline.

it's unsafe for THEM and unsafe for the passengers that could be unwittingly caught up in some kind of assasination attempt or kidnapping or anything else.

I work for the fed...have credetials and I NEVER use them on the plane. NEVER even take them out. even when flying for work. never never never.

the govt wouldn't pay any ransom for me..and I know NO secrets...but I wouldn't want some yahoo to get the wrong idea Chat Icon

I think it's ludicrous to have high ranking gov't officials on commercial airlines. It's a completely risk for security.

I don't know how old the planes are that are being replaced but it has nothing to do with the auto execs private flights. If your company is not doing well and you are asking for a handout then you need to reconsider your expenditures. Also the auto execs are not high ranking gov't officials.

Generalizing this is a mistake.

Politically, I'm pretty in the middle so I rarely respond to these frequent anti-Democrat newsfeed posts by the OP...

But comparing this to the car peepz as hypocritical is just silly.

The car company executives got a Chat Icon from the nation because they were travelling in private jets to DC to beg for more money for their cash-strapped companies.

This isn't even CLOSE to being the same.

I'm a nervous flyer to begin with.

In no way am I getting on a plane with a high ranking gov't anything!

They can keep their private jets. High ranking car company officials can bite it as far as I'm concerned. I don't see them as being that much of a risk.

Re: House provides $200M for gov't VIP jets

I dont see anything wrong with it- as other pp said, I dont want to fly with government officials- no thanks

also- someone has to make these planes and potentially that means jobs or people keeping jobs- people have jobs, they buy stuff, its a trickle effect and good for our economy right now
