Re: Household Work
It's not. I do it all. Dh will maybe vacuum once a month and he does at best a load of laundry once a week.

Re: Household Work
I do more, but I work less hrs. I am home by 3:15 pm everyday while DH is not home until 6:30 7pm. He DOES help and there are jobs HE does and not me but I do the more then him.
If I worked as many hrs/had the long commute he does I think I would feel that we should do 50/50 but since I have more time at my disposal it suits us.

Re: Household Work
I do the general cleaning -- now and again he might vacuum.
But he does all the laundry..I never ever have to do it.
I do all the cooking but he washes the dishes.
So I guess it's kind of 50/50. I don't mind being the one scrubbing the tub & dusting and what not if it means I do not have to fold any of my laundry. lol

Re: Household Work
I do it all and I honestly don't mind it! He offers to help all the time, but I am very particular and would rather do it myself, my way.
ETA: This will most likely change when our LO is born.

Re: Household Work
I'd say it's split pretty evenly. I have a bad back and can't really handle some chores, so he really pitches in to help me.

Re: Household Work
I would say 50/50. However there are things that he primarily does, and things that I primarily do.
We never sat down and said who should do what, it just worked out that way.

Re: Household Work
I do all the laundry, all the dishes. I do baby's baths and put them both to bed. I take care of them mostly when I am home and wake up with them every day except Sunday. I also do the bigger projects like baseboards, carpet cleaning etc. I work full time between my home, the office and the road.
He takes care of our kids from 3-5 PM and helps me get them into and out of the bath and dresses one of our sons for bed. he does most of the food shopping and all the cooking. he mostly vaccuums. He takes care of the outside and the garbage.
I would say its 50-50.

Re: Household Work
We have a cleaning lady and a landscaper because I know he wouldn't split the work. Having said that, I do 90 of the cleaning and any other household chores on top of that.
He supervises the landscaper..

Re: Household Work
I definettly do more of the daily household work then my DH does.
DH cooks I would say 5 out of 7 nights a week. He also cleans the shower.
I do the laundry & all of the cleaning.
If I ask he will help me with the cleaning but I am OCD so I prefer to do it myself. Once a month he knows I am going to not give him a choice & he has to help me settle the apartment.

Re: Household Work
I used to do more, but since DD was born, I'd say it's more evenly split. I handle just about everything for DD and he does laundry, washes floors/vaccuums, dishes, straightens up. I do the bathroom, dusting, clean the bedrooms. He'll pitch in if I need help tho.

Re: Household Work
I take care of alot of the laundry and cleaning the bathrooms; DH will do a lot of the folding of laundry when its done, all the lawn/yard work, heavy household stuff. we tend to do dishes about the same; Dh does the vaccumming, I do the dusting. so i say we have a pretty good system.

Re: Household Work
DH thinks it's 50/50 but it is so not. He always does jobs halfway - washes the dishes but never puts them away, does a load of laundry but never puts it away. Takes out garbage never puts a new bag in.....you get the idea.

Re: Household Work
50/50.. we each have the things we take care of, but it's totally even. Our goal is to always get back to the couch and watching tv together ASAP so if someone is still doing work, the other jumps in to help get it done faster and get back to that couch! Neither of us can stand to lounge around while the other is doing work around the house.

Re: Household Work
Probably 50/50 when it's all said and done.
We both work F/T but he does a lot of the major things around the house, like repairs and outdoor work. I keep the daily routine going, laundry, basic cleaning, cooking, etc.
He also will always watch DS if his schedule allows and I want to get out for a bit.
I do our bills as well.

Re: Household Work
Definitely 50/50. DH does dishwasher, lawn/outside work, bills, vacuuming, taking out the garbage and recycling. I do laundry, dusting, bathrooms, dishes in the sink, and all errand shopping.
