Housewarming gift?

For a couple (family members in their 30s) who already have everything. They are not really drinkers (plus she's pregnant). They just moved into a beautiful new home. IDK what to get! Any ideas for something unique? I hate the thought of buying things people may not want - no one wants or needs more "stuff" lying around, ya know. Thanks!

Maybe make a basket of consumable items (tissues, cleaning items, favorite snacks, drinks, etc). I like to do that for housewarming presents.

Thank you all. I think I may go with a nice plant - because who hates plants! And I need something quick and easy for Saturday. Thanks!

I do! You may as well give me an empty pot of dirt, since any plant (even a plastic one!) will probably die very soon... Chat Icon Actually, a lot of people I know don't like plants in the house, since they can't seem to maintain them.

HomeDepot/Lowes GC will always be used...

Same. Would rather have a GC then a plant that will die in a week of me having it.

Re: Housewarming gift?

Yeah I have zero plants in my house because I kill them by just looking at them, plus I really have nowhere to put them.

Same here. If I don't happen to kill them within the first few days, then my pets manage to get into the dirt and toss it everywhere.

Re: Housewarming gift?

A gift card to Home Depot or BBB is always good. If it's a new area for them, a local restaurant gift card is nice too.

If they like to cook, you could always get them a nice flavored olive oil/vinegar set. Not sure what part of the island your from but The Crushed Olive is a great place to get that from. They have a few locations.

I wasn't aware that there were so many plant haters Chat Icon Chat Icon

A gift card feels - impersonal I guess? But now you've all got me second guessing the plant so it may have to be a GC Chat Icon

Depends on the person. Some people love plants.
Have you noticed plants in their home in the past?
If so, go with the plant

Or I also like the idea someone mentioned of the gourmet olive oil sets- I got that from the Crushed Olive as a housewarming gift and it was a big hit.
They have flavored oils and flavored balsamic vinegar as well

I've given many people plants and the love it. I have trouble at times keeping them alive BUT still would rather have one over, any GC, liqueur etc. LOL

Good for the planet !!!!! :)

...and I agree, GC's are so impersonal to me, and I don't really like giving them. How about a fall wreath for the door? Or a basket of items from Sur La Table (everyone has to cook at some point lol)

Re: Housewarming gift?

Instead of a plant , just bring a pretty vase with a nice bouquet of flowers, a thoughtful card and a GC to Home Depot or Bed Bath

They can resuse the vase and can always use a GC when in a new home
