Housewarming Gift for friends?
Anyone have any ideas for a relatively inexpensive housewarming gift for our good friends who are renting a house together and living together for the first time? They're getting married next month.

They have some very cute gift ideas at Yankee Candle. I love getting candles as housewarming gifts so I can make the new place smell like mine.
Wine is always a hit too (if they drink wine).
Cookbook.
"Welcome" sign for their door or customized sign with their new hosue number on it.

Re: Housewarming Gift for friends?
Home Depot gift card (that was the best gift we got, we were constantly running there when we first moved in)
American Flag set... also available at Home Depot. My Dad used to get this for everyone. It's inexpensive and most people don't think of getting one until a federal holiday.
To be honest, we gave away most of the liquor we received from our housewarming as DH's family doesn't drink. I gave the plants to my MIL as I'm just not a plant person. Some decorative things were not my taste and they eventually went to Goodwill.

Matching engraved key rings & a gift card to Home Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond or one of those stores you find yourself in constantly when you first move.

I don't know where you live, but the Williams SOnoma outlet in Riverhead has some nice mixes, either for breads, etc...that you only need to add water/eggs to..also they ahve some interesting cookie jars, decorative plates (appetizers/cheese & crackers, etc.).

A plant. I always love the idea of giving a plant as a housewarming gift. The plant can grow as they grow as a couple together through the years.

Re: Housewarming Gift for friends?
When DH moved in together for the first time our friends gave us a basket full of house cleaning and kitchen supplies. Paper towels, dish soap, dish rags, pot holders, sponges, windex, etc. I thought it was a great idea.
