how are you choosing a pediatrician?
My mom asked me this other night. She wants me to use the group that me, my bro & sis all went to. They are very good Drs., but about 25 mins away from where DH & I live and I feel like there is always a LONG wait, even with scheduled appts. Forget about emergency visits!!
I don't know how to go about finding one closer..I guess asking moms in the neighborhood??

I moved OOS in February. I talk to the other mommies here when we go to the pool and that is what I am going to do when it comes time to find a pediatrician.

I use the same one my sister, her gf and my cousin use.
Hardly ever a wait and always returns emergency calls promptly. Let me know if you want the info.

My OB office gave me a list of recommended pediatricians, I went to visit the one that was close to my house and took my insurance, everything seemed ok, so we'll see after I start using them how good they really are.

I'm looking into recommendations from friends. The one we're looking at first is in our general area. I also want to make sure they're affiliated with the hospital of our choice.
Convenience is huge for me. I remember when I was young & had to go to the doctor they were soooo far away. 40+ min drive. I recall being so sick it seemed like forever and a day! Not fun.

I live in Long Island City, so I'm not sure where to look. Maybe Astoria.
I know about 2 or 3 moms in the neighborhood, so I will ask them.

I'm still uncertain. I don't know whether to choose one near my job or my home, which are about 40 minutes apart and he'll be going to daycare near my job

I chose one near my house...only because we go to a lot more scheduled appts then emergency ones. It is a pain to have to drive there for an emergency appt b/c my daughter is at my ILs which is 20 mins from work and another 45 mins from the doc's office...but that has only been 2 times in 19 months.

I asked some of my doctors and a few friends who are in the medical field who they recommend. I then met with two of them and picked one practice. I figure I won't really know if I like them until I start going.
