thanks ladies! i was actually wondering more about strollers and car seats, since with the travel system i want, the car seat only holds babies up to 22 lbs. i would hate to have to replace the carseat portion before a year, although i guess if it came to that, i could always get a 3-in-1 carseat that converts from infant to toddler to child.
I think most people replace it before a year. I feel like we used it for a really long time and DS came out of it at 9.5 months.
There are a lot more factors besides height and weight to consider as well.

I really liked my travel system, I got the Metrolite and snugride and throught they were great. I really think the infant seat is a godsend when you have a tiny baby.
I think some babies really hate the infant seat because they are very restricting, also, they become very heavy. For about 2 months before we switched, the seat would just stay in the car and I'd take DS out.

No, I would def. get a travel system - I have friends who have used the infant carseat up until a year - and then known others (like myself) whose babies were out of them at 2 months.
I would def. register for the next carseat though. Worst case scenario no one buys it for you - and you get that 10% off everything left on your registry after the baby is born.

I loved the graco travel system. DS used the infant carset until he was 5 1/2 months old. We still use the stroller. I did not get the snap and go. DS is now in the Britax. I would register for both a travel system and the larger car seat.

19 lbs 8 oz, and either 31 or 31 1/2 inches.

My daughter is 6 mo and 16lbs60z, but she is 26 in so quickly growing out of the inf carseat for height

My eldest daughter was 20lbs & 30inches at a year...
The twins were 17lbs & 28inches at a year...
pretty much exactly the twins weight one is 18..nothing like my older 2!
