How can I get my dog to stop eating paper tissue out of the bathroom wastebasket!?
I just don't know what to do. he goes rooting. I know he does it for attention...but even when he gets attention all day, he STILL finds his little nose back in it. He will also run with the toilet paper on the roll.
He's 3 1/2 and pretty good otherwise...He just loves tissues and toilet paper

I try to make sure every tissue-like substance is out of their reach because IDK how to make them stop.
Napkins, paper towels etc., they love them all.

Yep, I don't think you can stop it....our dog LOVES paper towels, tissues, etc. We have a small trash can with a lid you have to push a button to open....only way to keep her out!

I would just keep the bathroom shut. Other than a pail with a lid, there isn't anyway to stop them.

My dog opens the bathroom garbage - she takes off the lid with her nose - and is still able to eat some of that gourmet tissue that she loves.

I have a little can with a pop-open top....I got it at Kmart, It's from Martha Stewart..that would work!

I have the same issues with Bella, loves paper!
You can try to use the water bottle technique. When you see her/him going towards the basket, spray them in the face with a water bottle, keep doing it and eventually they get the hint that it's not something they should be doing.

oh yes, chip is a paper product feign!
i usually wind up putting it on top of the toilet so he can't get in the basket.

It won't hurt the dog, it is just to startle them. Get one that shoots far though and don't use the spray feature. Also try not to let them see the actual bottle and when the dog starts going over to it, do it and repeat it until the dog backs away.
You can use this for anything, jumping, etc..

This is what we have for the bathrooms and kitchen due to the same issue of being nosy with the garbage. It worked so far.

Yep. My mini-pin (RIP) used to drive me nuts. He would jump on the foot bit, then put his paw on the lid, then wedge his nose under the slightly open lid and bam....in the garbage.
Sly pup he was. I kept the door closed after that.

Same here. Our bathroom doors are always shut and all other paper products are out of reach. And when they get it, watch out

Seriously thats what we have to do. Rudy can get the kitchen garbage open with his nose. We have to keep something on top of that too

I have to same problem. My dog goes into the bathroom garbage any chance she gets. Even after I yell at her. I just keep the door closed, because I don't know what else to do.
