Re: How did you feel when DH went back to work?

DH stayed home for a week, so he was home 3 days w/ me after the hospital. It was rough & to be honest I was a bit afraid to do things on my own w/o someone else around. Yet before long it all comes as 2nd nature.

Things do tend to slow down (visits, help, etc.) but that's okay...you have to get into your daily mommy mode/schedule & I'm sure all you need to do is ask for help & parents will be there & I'm sure DH will help when he gets home.

JUST be sure he does still stay involved from his first day back...don't let him slip into the "I'm tired, I was working all day mode"....let him still be responsible for a feeding or putting DC down to sleep or some diaper changes.

Best of luck....its nice that its spring & you can get out. Do yourself a favor & be sure you do get out...I remember starting to feel stir crazy after a week or 2 & was a bit afraid to take her out on my own. Chat Icon

Thanks for all the advice ladies! Actually, I learned it was probably worse on DH then me. He was so sad to be away from DS yesterday and wouldn't let him go when he got home He got home at 4:45PM and held Ryan til midnight when I took over so he could get some sleep for work today. Not that it makes me feel "good" but I do feel better that we're all transitioning.
I can't wait for Ryan to have his first immunization shots so I can really get out and about!
Thanks again

sad and anxious. he was off for 2 weeks post c-section

Same here. I think I cried twice a day for the first week he was back. I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to give DD everything she needed/wanted.

I look back on it now and want to hug that poor mommy. It's so much easier now than I though it would be.

same here, I WAS FREAKING out when DH went back to work, I cried every day for a week Chat Icon

but after a few weeks, we had out routine down and it got MUCH easier Chat Icon

I was definitely scared and sad. I was nervous too, especially since DS was colic. But... I must say that this time alone is what really turned me into a mother. It was frustrating at times but it is really the time that you realize you have to learn patience and your heart expands. It was the best bonding time for me and DS.

DH was home for 2 weeks and then he went back to work. It was fine since he works midnights, I had him home during the day but it was just me & DS at night.

With Roman I was so resentful. DH went back a week later and I wanted it to be me. With Clover I couldn't wait for him to go back. He only took off the weekend.

I was thrilled, I couldn't wait to be on my own! He was off for 2 weeks, then went back to work for a week and was off for another 2 after that, I liked being on my own and being able to explore a bit.

You sound like me.

For me, I was ready to tackle motherhood on and try and get myself situated right away.Chat Icon

Re: How did you feel when DH went back to work?

my dh actually never took off. He did morning rounds right from the hospital I delivered at, then came back to our room after. My mom came to stay with us, and left today. So, today is my first day alone.

I didn't think I would, but I actually cried when she left.

Since day 1 I have been trying to do the cooking, laundry, & some cleaning so I don't feel overwhelmed when finally alone and Kailey is usually pretty good. She just went to sleep, so we shall see how day 1 alone goes.
