HOw did you know your baby had reflux? Signs/symptoms?
Logan has never spit up, but he's been a gassy baby since birth (at 5 wks old, we still burp after every ounce). He takes a long time to eat, but gulps it down like he's starving, then wiggles in between, arches his back, etc. Like I said, we're burping after every ounce, so that should take care of the gas, no? He doesn't scream or cry, but he doesn't eat calmly either. He gets hiccups with every feeding. He always had a ton of hiccups in utero, too!
I don't have a ped appt for another 3 weeks, so I can't just bring it up when i'm there.
He's already on soy formula - switched from similac advanced.
Thanks!

Did you have him tested for allergies? I think if he had reflux he would be spitting up more.

This is pretty much how Declan was. He did spit up but he also groaned after he ate and ate voraciously. We found out he has food allergies. At 9 months if someone kisses him after drinking coffee with 1.2 and 1/2 he bvreaks out in hives. Children whose parents suffer from environmental allergies are twice as likely to have food allergies. Call your Dr and ask if they can test his diaper for blood in his stool.

You can call the ped.
Christopher was ALWAYS very gassy, and I had read that it took a few weeks for their systems to mature, so I waited 8. When it was no different, I called the ped and they switched him to Gentlease.
Within a week, he was a new baby.

Tons of hiccups, lots of crying, pulling off the breast and arching back with some feedings and crying, vomiting and spit up, wheezing, when you sat her up in your lap she would get better, but cry harder when you laid her down, gagging and choking in her sleep.

DD is almost 4 months old and has reflux. She spits up a lot, has frequent hiccups (also in utero), regurgitates into her throat and sometimes chokes, has wet burps, fusses during feedings and arches back, sometimes rejects bottles, etc. Alimentum, Zantac, and a little cereal in her bottle help.

Nic,
Jillybean barely ever spits up and has horrible reflux. Her pediatrician told us it can just come to the top of the throat and make them miserable without us really knowing
She would only be comfortable lying on us on her side or on her belly. Sitting upright would cause horrible discomfort and putting her in her carseat was torture for her. And the screaming never stopped she was hurting so much. She tested positive for milk allergies by having her stool checked at PM Pediatrics late one night and then at Schneiders Childrens Hospital. It wasn't until 2 weeks after the formula issues were under control that we were at the peds office and she had one of her screaming fits along with what I wrote above and he knew right away. If Logan is screaming maybe call his ped now vs waiting for his next appt.
ps - she also has troubles passing stools once in awhile so we also give her gripe water
