How did your baby react to her ear piercings?
I scheduled an appt with the ped to pierce her ears at 6mos. Should I expect crying the same way she gets her vaccines or do they numb the ears a bit where she won't feel anything? I will be doing the piercings two weeks after her 6month checkup to include the flu shot. I just think it would be too much to do all of it at once wdyt?

DD cried more for her shots than the ear piercing. ALso, they held her head to mark the ears and she cried for that so the piercing didn't really bother her. Cried for a second or two.

DH took her. Husband said she cried like crazy but felt it was more traumatic for him to watch than for her to experience

The worst part was holding her. She was not a fan. Once the earrings were in she cried for maybe a minute or two.

Pretty much the same. SHe cried harder for the second piercing bc she was being held down even more b/c she was squirming more. She calmed down after getting her blanket and paci or bottle can't remember haha.

I was just thinking about this today. What age do they do this? And do you have to supply the earrings or do they have the ones that don't come off like the mall places have? Sorry for the hijack.

She cried about 2 minutes total but I think it was because she was tired. Right after we put her back into the stroller and she was asleep before we got out of the store.

My old ped did it in office. They had special packets of earrings and guns. They used a new pack and tossed them after each patient. The earrings aren't anything special but they are the only ones that stay in her ears. I changed them a few times, each time we would lose them, but recently put them back in b/c they have the best backs.

Re: How did your baby react to her ear piercings?
DD was a year old and honestly it was worse than shots. We did it at the ped's office and the doctor used a spray to numb her ears but it didn't seem to do much. She cried very hard for maybe 5 minutes, way more than she did with any of her shots. I felt awful.
I still am not sure though if it's worse to do it as a baby or wait until they get older. At least she didn't have the anticipation and won't remember it. I've heard women say they had negative experiences of it being scary and painful, although when I had mine done at 11 I clearly remember it not hurting much at all.

we did DDs at 7m. she got shots the same day. she really only cried for like a minute longer than she normally would for shots and then it was done. i think the noise was worse than the pain for her too. so happy we did it then!!

Re: How did your baby react to her ear piercings?
I dont think it will be too much... We had DD's ears pierced by our ped (at about3.5 months )who also used numbing cream.. DD didn't even know it happened! First ear she didn't react at all, 2nd ear she was fussing a little bit but that was because she knew the dr was up to something & didn't want her near her lol! DD was fine right after & even in the days after showed no signs of being in pain or even knowing the earrings were there. I was nervous bc I BF her & I thought lying on her ears would hurt her but nope! Even putting clothes over her head doesn't bother her either (I am obv extra careful)
