how do i break this middle of the night waking?
So DS is almost 4 montjhs. When he would wake to eat at 230 i would take him out and we always fell asleep together . For the last 9 weeks or so he hasnt needed to eat in the middle of the night but i took him in anyway. bad bad bad i know.. I really want to break this before i go back to work in sept. Last night i tried going in rubbing his back giving him the paci etc. it worked but i had to keep going in so eventualy i just slept in his chair. What can i do and how long does it take usually?

Keep doing what you're doing and eventually he should learn that you aren't going to pick him up and sleep more. Babies are very adaptable and seem to form a habit very quickly. I think it will just take you a couple of days. Good luck!!

just be consistent...if you go in there and rub his back, do that but do not pick him up....after 6 months, you can do CIO if you choose to

is he getting up at night and crying? Is that why you are going into the room? As long as you leave him in the crib and just soothe him as you've been doing that should work. Try rubbing his back for shorter periods as the nights go on...that might help break the waking if he's not looking to eat

yes hes crying not screaming but if i dont go in it turns to screaming.. no he is not hungrty. after 12 hours sometimes i have to force him to eat so i know at 230 he is not hungry for sure. I will try rubbing for shorter times each nighht. thanks girls
