Toddler moms..waking up again in the middle of the night..night terrors??
Megan is 22 months old. She had been sleeping through the night absolutely beautifully up until about 3 weeks ago. Every night (or early morning) around 4, she wakes up SCREAMING! Not just whining or crying, SCREAMING HER HEAD OFF. Its like shes scared of something. I cannot get her back to sleep by just sshhing her or rubbing her back. She HAS TO BE taken out of the crib and comes into bed with us, which I HATE doing. But if not, it literally sounds like she is going to have a breakdown.
At first I though it was nightmares. Then I thought it was the dark, put a nightlight on and it made it worse. Then I thought it was her teeth, but during the day she is absolutely fine.
I was wondering if anyone else is going through this? 04bride's daughter has been doing the same thing for the past 2 nights. Is this the age for this? What do you do? How long did it last?
Usually she goes right back but last night was up from 3-6 in the bed with me obviously bothered by something. Just looking to see if anyone else is or has had the same experience?

Very strange, Ryan is the same age and he has woken up at 4/5am the past 4 days crying hysterically - but then goes back to sleep. I think it's his teeth but it sounds like it coudl be night terros for Megan , has anythign else changed?

DD is 20 months and for the last few weeks has been waking up in the middle of the night - sometimes screaming, sometimes just doing a complaining type cry. We usually end up getting her up for a little bit, put on the tv and then she will go right back down.
I have no idea what is causing it - if it is her teeth or something else. I haven't found a solution, but wanted to let you know that you are definitely not alone

I have a question....is your child potty trained? This is common in children who are internally fearful of wetting themselves. It would have nothing to do with anything you have done, but putting the child on the potty can calm them down.
when a child has night terrors (which can also be related to potty training) the child screams seamingly in fear, but they also seem to be asleep while this is going on. Is that what you are experiencing?

23 months & same thing for a few nights. she's hysterical. but i can get her back to sleep after about 20 minutes. i calm her down by talking to her, then rub her back. she actually hates coming out of her crib & cries more when i pick her up.
ETA: DD is not potty trained. it's hard to tell if she's really awake because she's so hysterical.

DS is 23 months and has been doing the same thing the last couple of days but he has been getting up between 5 - 5:30 am screaming and crying too. He is not potty trained either.

My son has been doing this! I was told it's night terrors...I think at this age they are remembering and dreaming a lot...
He will wake up SCREAMING and we run in and he looks around the room like he's terrified. After about 10 minutes he slowly goes back to sleep, but we have to rub his back or rock him.
My mom said all 6 of us went through this around this age!! Boy is it scary though!!

Yes right about the same time as your DD too. It was getting so bad that she was climbing out of the crib and that's when we had to move her into a big girl bed. It was for about 2-3 weeks straight and horrible
