How do i get rid of the BINKY?
DD is 1 and she has dermatitis around her mouth. the doctor suggested getting rid of the binky. she only uses it to go to sleep during naps and at night...at night it falls out after about 10 minutes and she doesn't put it back in until she wakes up in the morning. she is too young for the "Binky fairy". how do i get rid of it???i'm dreading it

I am with you, DS is almost 2 and still uses it at night, for naps and in cars I am thinking i will just have to do it cold turkey eventually

Re: How do i get rid of the BINKY?
We just did this with my daughter 2 days ago- she is 2. I just took it away - said she is a big girl now and does not need them anymore. It takes a little longer for her to go to sleep - I have to go in there a few times and tell her to go to bed. But so far it really is not that bad. Good Luck!!!!

Re: How do i get rid of the BINKY?
ugh i am in the same boat. My DD is 2 and she was doing so good with only using it for bed but all of a sudden she needs it all the time again. I dont understand. We want to start potty training her soon so i think i will work on the binkie after that.

Re: How do i get rid of the BINKY?
With my first I took it away cold turkey at 12 months and she was fine with that.
With my second we slowly cut the nipple shorter and slower each day until there was nothing left for her to suck on. It took about a week and she was done with it.
I have seen other woman on here suggest poking holes in it and they will lose interest but this didn't work for my DD.

Re: How do i get rid of the BINKY?
DS kind of got rid of it himself. At about 20 mos he chewed a hole in it and tossed it aside for another, we had only 3 binkies and i wasnt buying anymore. Once he chewed thru all 3 they were done and so was he. All this happened in a matter of 2-3 days.
My friend just cut a whole in her DS' for a night or 2 which was semi-working, then she added the binkie fairy and it was a done deal.
Good Luck.

Re: How do i get rid of the BINKY?
try getting rid of the binky's around the house and only leave one, so they have to be extra careful not to lose it, and then just cut it off one day. That's what i did with my DD, i was like, hmm... looks like it broke and we got no more binky. She cried a little bit but got over it.

DS is 2 and still uses one for his naps at at night...I am glad I'm not the only one with a 2 yr. old who still uses them I dont want to get rid of it yet b/c we are transitioning DS into his big boy room over the next couple of weeks and I dont want to mess him up completely I will probably get rid of them over the summer.

Re: How do i get rid of the BINKY?
DD misplaced her binky (I only had one that she really liked). That was it. We couldn't find it, so she went without it. It was found about 3 weeks later and is now sitting on the counter next to the kitchen sink, but she has gone without it for months.
