How do we find Child Care?!
My wife and I are expecting this April...very excited! So right now we are in the midst of trying to figure out what to do about child care come September. We are both in education. How and where do you begin this daunting process?! We'd be looking for something in Nassau and I guess we're open to either a center or a home at this point. Has anyone come across a good list of child care options online? Where do we begin?! I'm curious what experiences everyone else has had. Thanks!!!

I went through Little Flower and also child care council. they had lists, I interviewed various prospetives (large facilities and small in home providers)
I started out in a large facility, but then moved to an in home situation. I actually found the listing on craigs list, which I NEVER thought I'd trust. But I met the provider without my child the first time, she was in the midst of getting her license and her new day care running. She is now listed on the child care counsil list. It is DEF. the best match for us.
This is one of the hardest choices you will face, will take some leg work, and gut instinct, but you will find the right match.

I found mine through the Child Care Council of Nassau. We have DD in an in home licensed day care.

You can use some websites to find a babysitter/nanny . Like sittercity.com or Craigs list or contact the agency I have some #s if you'd like , just FM me .

We used the Child Care Council. We are in Suffolk- I called and was asked questions regarding the type of facility we were interested in, what days/hours, our child's age, etc. I was then emailed a list of locations. What was nice is the list gave the record of violations.
Prior to that, I looked up childcare in the yellow pages and just went to ones that I was interested in.

We used this site Child Care Search which I loved and could see which facilities had any serious violations, if they dispense medications, hours, etc...
We also brought a list of questions (most of which were answered for us by the facilities before we could even ask)
