How do you boost your LO's immune system?
DS is 2 yo and has been in daycare since 10 wks old. He got sick so much last year. We switched daycares in the spring which helped a bit. He went to daycare over the summer 2 days/week so I didn't expect him to get "hit" but he germs and get sick so fast this September. But I was wrong! He is just getting over being sick for a week. I got it too and it was brutal. I'm a teacher and missed 4 days of school already. It's so rediculous is comical. So anyway I am researching some ways to build up his immune system. I know he's going to catch stuff but I want him to be able to fight it better so if he does get sick it's not as harsh or long lasting (for me either). So I'm wondering what others do. Anything you do that you think keeps your LO's immune system strong?

Both of my little one's have been in day care since about 10 weeks too. I make sure my DD eats healthy, DS still BFs. Both get carlsons vit D and I'm a chiropractor so I adjust them which helps tremendously. I also have DD wash her hands when she gets home.

I make sure to enforce A lot of hand washing during the day. I also bring my kids for regular chiropractic adjustments and give vitamin D (carlsons) daily and probiotics daily. Healthy eating helps too but that's not always easy with a picky toddler. DS is 2.5 and DD is 10 months and I do this for both. It seems to help but of course they still get sick. I am also researching elderberry syrup and may start giving that when they start to get sick.

I wish I knew.
DS is 3 and after 2 half days at preschool last week, he was very sick this weekend, and he threw up all over me last night.
I knew it would happen, I just didn't expect it to happen this quickly.

vitamin C the old fashioned way.. Orange Juice! And I LET her get sick and burn off her fevers (she's sick right now actually). I feel we NEED to get sick to build up our immunity.
Prevention though *IS* Key! Yes washing hands is important, cover your mouth when you cough, sneeze and toss away your tissue each and EVERY time you use it. If for no other reason that to keep it from coming back to her. Don't touch your eyes, keep your fingers out of your mouth.
Mouth slime is nasty (lol what we tell her) so don't touch anything someone else has touched with mouth slime, like sneezes, coughs, buggers, mouth, etc. Keep your hands to yourself and wash them BEFORE you eat and after you use the bathroom. Keep the bathroom door open and use your foot to push it open, no touching the inside handle.
Guess what? She still gets sick. Thankfully not vomit sick yet. Just the annoying common cold.

Re: How do you boost your LO's immune system?
vitamin c - helps keep immune system optimal zinc - blocks receptors where cold virus latches on elderberry - mystical properties everyone I know swears by vitamin d3 and fish oil - most Americans are deficient in omega 3 and D3 ... natural fish oil covers them both
we use them all every day in small doses, when he's sick I up the dose on all of them.
DS is in a 2 hour a day program, and even with all this he does get sick, but its not nearly as bad as I see other kids get it.

Thanks all. For those who give Vitamin D, probiotics, zinc, elderberry, fish oil, etc...how do you know what doses are appropriate for your child?
