How do you deal with a new haircut you HATE?

I just got my hair cut last weekend very short and I absolutely HATE it. I mean I cried for 2 HOURS when I got home.

I've never cried over a haircut in my 31 years on this good earth.

I don't have a picture of me in this new do yet but I'll post a similar style...

Please help!!!

Oh and extensions aren't an optioin, I just don't have the $$$$ for it.

What is the main thing that is bothering you about the haircut?

If its too short, are there maybe different ways to style it that can make it better? What about a dye job or getting it recut into a style that you feel flatters you better?

Whenever I've gotten messed up haircuts I usually went home, fixed what I hated, and then promptly felt better, but I totally wouldn't recommend this to everyone!

I feel she got alittle scissor happy and cut too much off. The sides are too short (shorter than the picture I posted) and the top is so short that I can't do too much with it.

I wanted to have a long side swept bang and instead I have something so short that I if I do try to push it to the side my bangs are about an inch to an inch and a half above my eyebrow.

I was thinking about coloring it but I'm not sure if that will call more attention to it.

with short hair cuts it's hard to have a quick fix.....but the good thing is that it will grow in quickly.

in the meantime, you can use scarves to cover it, wear sunglasses on top of your head like a headband, wear a headband, hair clips....wear big bangly earrings...

do you just hate that it's short, or was the cut really bad? if it's a bad cut, you could go back to the salon, tell them you HATE it and ask for someone to fix it free of charge.

try to focus on the positives...short hair uses less shampoo and conditioner, and it's really quick to blow out....

I'm sorry you don't like the new cut. I have very short hair also and I can promise you in 2 weeks it will grow out a bit and look softer. Spiking it out and mussing it up may make the shortness of the sides a bit less obvious.

no problem, it'll grow in quick, the sides always grow in fast, it's the one problem I have with short hair, I have to get it cut every 3-4 weeks, lol.

also, mascara and lipstick go along was to detract from your hair and bring the focus to your face, good luck!

you may grow to love it
and hair grows fast

take some hair vitamins

i guarantee in a month youll feel better about your hair

Maybe you just need some time to get used to it? I think on the model its a cute haircut, I am sure its not as bad as you think!
The thing about short hair is that it will grow out faster and then you can do something you like better with it!

That cut is adorable. I'm sorry you don't like it.

When I a teenager I got a super short cut that I HATED and got extensions just for my bangs (I needed to cover my gargantuan forehead ). Maybe that's an option instead of all-over extensions?

Oh my god I am SO SO SO sorry !! I know how you feel and it's the most awful thing to deal with !!!

I think the cut is adorable though - What is it exactly that you don't like? Is it just TOO short for you? - For now, try wearing headbands or a cute scarf AS a headband - I would stay away from any big jewlery b/c it's going to draw more attention to your short 'do -

The good thing about short short cuts is that they tend to grow in fairly quickly -

I'm in the same boat as you - My new "curly expert" HA stylist just completely butchered my Loooooooong hair and it's completely ruined. - I'm going to have to endure at least 3 months before I look normal again !!!

I really need to see a pic. But, I have short hair. A style like that is REALLY tricky and I tend to stay away from them. Sorry, but IMO the only thing that might help is going SHORTER or just sticking it out until it grows out. How about clipping it on top of your head?

ETS: Is it that you don't feel confident with the cut and you are not used to it? What to do other people say?

I know you said extensions are too expensive but they do have clip in extensions now that are very affordable and easy to use- most of them look great too.
It might help in the interim...

The thing is the more I look at it, the more I'm starting to think it's a crappy cut.

I've had short hair before so it's not a new thing for me but it's like the way she cut it, I can't style it. My hair just won't budge, it's actually kind of bizarre.

I'm very temped to go back to my stylist and ask her how exactly I'm supposed to do it. I hated it more when I got home from the salon b/c she straight ironed the bangs which honestly gave me an "institutionalized" look. I swear, it was horrible.

I wanted the style that's in the picture and that's not what I got by a long shot.

Everyone says it looks good on me but *I* just don't think it looks good and don't feel good about the way I look.

I'll take a picture of it and post in a minute.

It all depends on if u like it. Some people like short hair more then long hair.

I would highlight it...it will add much more depth to it...

i see what you mean - it looks like the cut the top and sides too short.

like everyone said, the good thing is that it will grow REALLY fast. my friend has a similar cut and she goes for trims every three weeks to keep the shape!

i would totally recommend highlights to give it more depth, that will change the way you (and others) see it.

i do like the short style on you though! i don't think the bangs are too short at all. i would maybe try some wax to make it more piecey?

Honestly, I don't think she gave you a good cut. - It is way too short on top to style it from the picture you showed her -
If your throw some highlights in, it will break it up and give it more depth - Also, in a week or 2, it will look like the picture !!

I think if you add some highlights it will help look more like the pic, and try to get some of that styling cream, maybe you can define the layers a bit more

I love the cut on the model. Looks like the stylist got a bit scissor happy with you. Good thing is that its the summer & hair tends to grow faster during the warm months. I guarantee in a few weeks, your hair will grow out & you will be able to style it like the model has it. I wouldn't do anything right now in terms of color. If the dye job turns out to be a disaster, your going to end up hating your hair even more. Just let it grow out as is.

I am so sorry this happened, but it will grow SO FAST! I don't think she did a good job based on the pic I agree with the PPs - if you could highlight it, it would add depth. I still think you look cute though!

I agree with an above poster, The more I look at it the more I think I didn't get a good cut at all.

I bought some spary wax at the salon that day, but it just seems to make my hair feel dirty. Which really pi$$es me off b/c I paid top dollar for it.

I have some gooey pomade that I used to use when I had short hair a few years ago, but it doesn't work well with this cut b/c the bangs weren't really textured when she cut it. I think I need to "cut into" my bangs alittle.

What do you guys think?

Also, can anyone recommend a stylist who could possibly fix this in some way?
