How do you feel about baby showers now that you are TTC?
I am going to my first one today since getting pregnant and m/c in July.
I am looking forward to it- getting the invite made me cry for some reason, but I am over it! I am really happy for my friend...
I am wondering how I'll feel later after spending a couple hours watching her open up boxes of cute little baby things....sigh......

its great that you are ok with it and looking foward to it!!
i already was invited to one of my DH's cousins baby shower and i just couldnt go.. i felt terrible about it but she is the sweetest girl and completely understood.
now anyday now i should be getting an invitation for my best friends baby shower and of course i will be going but i know it will be extremely hard being that i was due exactly 1 month before her.. so i have all these feelings like "why me"

I haven't had that situation yet, so I'm really not sure how I would feel.
I guess it would depend on my relationship with the person. If it was a best friend or very close friend I would probably be 90% happy for them and 10% upset at my own situation. If it was someone not as close, then I'd probably feel differently.

they dont bother me. I have a hard tome being jealous for people in my life. I cant ever know what goes on behind closed doors so no one is "lucky" to me. I might have a problem w/ TTC, but they might have problems elsewhere in their life.
My time will come and i would hate to think that someone didnt wanna be at my shower so.....

i went to a shower a few weeks ago for a good friend. surprisingly, i was okay. i guess b/c i was so happy for her. of course, i had hoped to be PG by the time her shower rolled around but after i got over that hump, i had a good time.

Grrr... I just wrote out a long response and lost it!
What I wanted to say was that for some people it's not about being jealous. I hosted a huge baby shower for my sister last summer, and I'll be honest and say it was VERY difficult for me the months leading up to the shower and the shower itself. I had already been trying for a year to get pregnant and had just started fertility treatments at the time of her shower. It wasn't about jealousy at all. Of course had I not been the hostess of her shower, I still would have gone because she is my sister, we're close, I love her and I was thrilled for her and my BIL to start their own family. But I will say that had it been anyone else, I most likely would have declined the invite. I got invited to a baby shower not long after my miscarriage and I did not attend. Just too difficult, but not about jealousy.

I totally agree- for me, it's not about jealousy at all. I really am so happy for everyone I know that is pregnant/just had a baby. I don't ever wish that they weren't pregnant or anything like that....
It's more that I am wondering if it will make me sad to watch her open all the gifts and stuff- kind of like it brings up my feelings about my own situation, which I have tried so hard to push out of my mind, you know?
Plus my MIL is coming into town this afternoon, and I know she is going to ask me "when are you going to make me a little grandchild?????" So I will be going from my first shower home to my MIL, whom I actually love, but I am kinda dreading talking to b/c I know I'll break down and tell her what we have been dealing with if she asks....
It's way easier when it's just a quiet weekend with no functions and no guests!

you girls will love this... I was at my cousins wives baby shower two weeks ago and my mon was there cause she was away so I had no moral support. Anyway my moms cousin comes up to me and says that she heard that I had a miscarriage and that maybe I should consider adopting. Some people are such animals!!!!

I had three in the last 2 weeks for a friend and two family members. It's bittersweet. I'm so incredibly happy for them, my niece was born the other day and my cousin is having her baby on the 12th. My friend is due at the end of October. All of them conceived after I started trying, so I always think, "Oh I'd be having a baby soon if I would have gotten pregnant earlier." But I know my time will come and in the meantime I can enjoy their new babies. Seeing them excited and happy makes me happy and it also will make it that much more sweet when we do get pregnant.
