How do you feel about buying a floor model
We are looking for appliances - and sometimes the floor models are on sale.
Has anyone had good or bad experiences?

I never did but when I was in home depot I saw some guy sneeze and then put his hand inside the floor model standup mixer.... YUCK!

Re: How do you feel about buying a floor model
My mom bought a floor model refrigerator at PC Richards. She is very happy, and has had it for 2 years. It came with the same warranty as the new one.

depends what it is and what kind of a deal you can get. we once bought a table that was a floor model. it had the teeniest little chip in it that DH was sure he could fix (and did). the discount was got was tremendous.

Re: How do you feel about buying a floor model
DH and I just bought a floor model gas dryer from the PC Richards clearance store in Deer Park. We saved a ton of money and it works great.

thanks for the replies -
We got it. I'm still nervous about the floor model part, but we did get the same warranty (which we would have gotten with a new one anyway)
We saved 50% off the box price. It was a good deal. Its coming on Wed

Re: How do you feel about buying a floor model
DH and I bought our LG washer and dryer set from Home Depot and they were the floor models. My brother and law and cousin (they are dating!) had bought the same stackable set a few months earlier and we liked them, but when we went all they had was the floor models. So we bought them, got a great deal and they work perfectly.

Re: How do you feel about buying a floor model
We bought the floor models of a washer and a dryer. The dryer had some of the paint chipped off so they gave us a good discount. Knock on wood, no problems with either 8 years later.

Re: How do you feel about buying a floor model
Things like appliances I have no problem buying floor models as long as they are in good condition. And washer or dryer, even if it has a couple of scratches would be fine with me -- who will see it anyway? But things like TVs, computers, etc. I don't think I'd buy a floor model just because you don't know for how many hours it has already been used, etc. and I'd be afraid that it wouldn't last as long. Regular appliances obviously aren't being used in the store.
