How do you feel about Cross Nursing?
It is was on the news this morning that 2 women cross nurse because she doesn't always have enough milk.
Would you BF someone else's child? On the news they were talking about safety because you don't always know what the other women is eating, etc.

I do not have an opinion one way or another. Would I PERSONALLY do it? No but I WOULD pump for someone elses baby if they needed it

I would def do this too. They suggested that she go to a milk bank instead because it goes through testing, etc.

I know what you mean,I know there is nothing wrong with it,but it distrubs me, but then again I did not even like the idea of breastfeeding for myself, we are strictly a formula family.

3 years ago this month, my sister and I were both 9 months pregnant and at a party together. One of the women at this party approached me and told me she noticed my sister and I would have babies the same age and then asked if I was planning to BF. I told her yes, that I was planning to give it a shot.
She then proceeds to give me totally unnecessary information about her and her sister--they each BF one another's children. They tested it out when each one took the other's baby, brought her into another room, closed the door and came out...and...wouldn't you know it...it worked. Oh and it was so convenient for example if "one of us was fixing lunch and the baby needed to be nursed." She urged me to try it. I just said, "Uhhh...my sister lives in Westchester and besides, I don't think my BIL would love the idea..."
Yeah, it's not for me

Ok, I THOUGHT I was open-minded. But I was wrong. This really grossed me out and I can't even put my finger on why.
I guess at the end of the day, the only bodily fluids I want DC ingesting are MINE. And I BF myself, I am very supportive of women BF in public, so the discomfort isn't really with the act of nursing, it's more the actual consumption of the breastmilk-- at least for myself, I know what I ate/drank, I know I was disease free, etc.

I would not go out of my way to Cross Nurse but I would go to a milk bank if my child needed BM. Milk Banks are often used by women whose children medically need BM due to health issues or by women who have had breast cancers and physically cannot BF.
I don't have an issue if other women want to do this though.

No i could never do that.. thats just strange to me.. I nurse now, but would never cross nurse.. thats just me.. isnt that what formula is for..

I really don't know how I feel about the subject. I would have probably let my daughter nurse from my sister ONLY if she needed the milk for a medical reason. My sister was able to BF and I was not.
If not I would never want it. I'd think it were weird if my sister or anyone for that matter suggested it if it weren't for medical reasons. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

This strange. I had trouble in the beginning with DD and I often wished I could nurse another baby just to see how it felt and then maybe DD would latch easier. She eventually did get the hang of it (almost 18 months later we are still at it) but I do remember having the desire to nurse other babies.
Sometimes I still have an urge to nurse a small baby is they are getting a bottle of formula nearby. I must be a freak

I don't have any feelings either way, and if someone I knew wanted to do this, or I had the necessity to do this, I wouldn't care what anyone else thought either way.
Everyone should be able to do what they want and what they feel is right without anyone judging them.
