i guess bc the closest malls to me are Green Acres and Queens Center. . . LOL

I worked there for 1yr and during the holiday and honestly there wasnt any scare for me or unsafe feeling.

I think any mall can be unsafe esp at nite and someone walking to a car alone.

I feel perfectly safe there during the day. I avoid going to any parking lot by myself at night.

I feel safe there and will continue to go by myself.

I live in Westchester and a woman was stabbed in the parking lot about a year ago - I live a block away from that mall and I still go to that one alone.

Then again, I always do my shopping during the day so who knows if that makes a difference.

Here's what happened today stabbing

That is very scary. But when I am in a parking lot I always get in my car lock the doors right away. Never sit in my car for ANYTHING. Don't look at receipts dont do ANYTHING in the parking lot. I roll my windows down AFTER I leave. So scary and really sick that we have to live like this

I still remember a lot of carjackings at RF about 15 years ago. I am never totally comfortable parking there and I don't use the multi-level garages.

I feel safe there. I don't really mall shop all that much any more anyway. I will go only during the day, as I usually have my 2 kids with me. It can happen anywhere.

I always feel safe - but don't go at night unless I'm w/ DH. I think the victim had her window rolled down. I kind of "jump in and lock the doors and look around" anyways as a normal precaution.

Do we know which parking lot this took place in?

I always felt safe. I mean, I keep an eye out because there's potential fro something to happen anywhere I go. But I don't feel like it's a dangerous place.

I am always careful anywhere I go, a mall, the City, etc.

I never park in covered parking lots. I walk fairly fast with my keys in hand to and from my destination. I usually walk at a faster pace too. To EVERY mall or stores. I never go to malls when it's dark.

I try to be aware of my surroundings. If I feel someone is following me, I turn around and look at them in the eyes and stand. I know ... I am a weirdo but it works. People don't like to be recognized.

What happened could happen anywhere on LI. That won't stop me from going to RF. I just will be even more careful.

I never feel safe going to any mall especially alone, I was ALMOST ( I am thankful I was not and was ok, just shook up) mugged in daylight at the Broadway Mall, and they do not even have cameras, at least Roosevelt field does. I only found this out when DH called the police and inquired about security in these places. I do not know if cameras were installed since at Broadway mall, but I will never forget it and I am not a big mall fan becuase of this .

I never felt safe going there & will never go alone...I fear for my SIL though as she is always there with my nephew...

I don't go to malls at night unless I am with someone....I try to stay away from the malls unless necessary & usually only go to Broadway

I only go there during the day (by myself) and DH rarely ever lets that happen. Never at night though.

It really seems to have gone down hill... lately, they have been having more and more issues that are gang related.....I use to live near there but recently moved to the babylon area,I tried the sunrise mall.....which IMO was horrible....then I discovered Walt wit. in Huntington....It's worth the trip

I go there alone during the day but park right near the entrance at bloomies or nordstroms and am always very careful.

RF has always had problems in their parking lots - this unfortunately is not a new story. For as long as I can remember there have been problems with carjackings, muggings in the lots - especially around the holidays when people are leaving with packages. They also had problems with people breaking into cars to get stuff as people would come to their cars and leave their packages in the trunks and go back in for more shopping. It has never been really safe but it is not as unsafe as some other malls on the island. They also used to have problems with gang fights at RF in the past as well.

I never used to think twice about parking in the lower level by Dicks (when it was Sterms) but I don't do that anymore.

Then I started parking over by Panini (?) Cafe and only recently started parking OUTSIDE by the outer Macy's entrances.

I'm only ever there during lunchtime ... so I don't know how I'd feel about going to any mall alone at night.
