How do you get your DC to stay in their room once they move out of the crib?

Every morning I get to be woken up by my beautiful little boy practically nose to nose with me, whispering "Good Morning Mommy!"

Don't get me wrong, this is the absolute sweetest part of my day, but that whispering quickly turns into jumping on the bed, louder talking, being hit with pillows and toys, etc.

All at a fantastic 6AM......Chat Icon

I figure I've got roughly 10 more weeks before the 3AM feedings start up again, and would like to milk every day I can, and DS also needs to learn to occupy himself in his room.

Short of shutting my bedroom door, which I'd rather not do, how do you keep them in their own room?

I have no advice...I have the opposite problem. DD WON't get out of her bed alone. And while you might think that's awesome...on Saturday or Sunday morning at 7 am, all I hear is "mommy" "MOMMY", "MOOOMMMMMYYYYY" and I have to get up and go tell her to get out of bed. So, now I'm awake. She will come to my room at that point, but there is no going back to sleep for me...it's jumping on my bed, yelling, etc, etc Chat Icon I have tried to tell her it's ok to get out and come to my room...but she doesn't Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

my DD is almost in her toddler bed a year now! (WOW! that went quick!) and she still comes into my room every morning! But I am lucky sometimes it is as late as 9:30 (and as early as 7:30)

I can just hope for you once he gets used to the bed, he will sleep a little later and won't come into your room until a "decent" hour! Chat Icon

You can put a gate at their door. My GF did this and it worked beautifully.

We always closed her door because we didn't want the cats going in there.

Maybe put up a gate at the doorway so he has to stay in his room until you come get him.

Same here.

I just got him a garage for downstairs in his room. HOPING for him to play there a bit. The play room is upstairs and his bedroom is downstairs.

When you find out . . . please tell me. I shut his door and our door every night and he is able to open up doors. I have also put a gate at the door, and he has climbed it. Although, my son comes in at 3 am ready to party!
