How do you handle older kid bullies?
DS is 10 months old and this older kid (~3 yo) was pushing DS over, snatching toys out of his hands, and pushing toys away from DS to make DS cry. I felt so bad for DS.
I didn't want to scold the other child. I kept giving DS a new toy to distract him.
FINALLY, another parent saw what the older child was doing so she scolded him (in a nice way).
How do you handle bullies?

if they put their hands on my child, you bet Id intervene. In fact it happened yesterday at a superbowl party, some little girl was hitting my DS. You bet I spoke up, and said, "Hey, we dont hit Eddie." Sternly and loud enough so they other childs parent could hear.

I have intervened & say "No hitting" or "You need to wait your turn". Depending on the severity of it, I use my low, scary threatening voice.

With that kind of age difference, I would definitely intervene, and ask this child to give toys back, stop hitting, etc. I would also look for the parent or caregiver and mention what's going on.
If the child is around DSs age, I try to let them settle it themselves (unless it is showing violence potential).

Someone touches my kid, I open my mouth. "Please no pushing...he is much smaller than you". Something to that effect. If he does it again I would pick DS up and remove him from the situation.

Re: How do you handle older kid bullies?
I had a 2 year old trying to smack my 1 year old DS this weekend, I wanted to kill her LOL I waited for her wimpy mom to say something, and she really didn't so I just picked him up and said Let's go play somewhere else baby. I was so MAD! but wasn't sure if I should have said no hitting to the girl
