This is what I've been doing now because I just don't think it's right to stick a thermometer in the pooper if she doesn't even wear diapers anymore. Is it accurate? I don't even know. The ear thermometer thread had me wondering because I was going to get that.

You have to add a point if you take it under the arm.

I do under the arm. They both thrash around violently and the arm is the easiest to hold in place.

i have the forehead one that takes it in 3 seconds and you can test when they are asleep. it works great and is acurate. it even tells us the temp in the house. haha its the one the nurses use at our pediatrician and walgreens sells it for 40 totall worth it.

In my experience you need to add a degree if it is not rectal

I use an ear one as a gauge, but honestly, both my kids do well with a regular under the tongue one! I have one that takes a temp in less than 10 seconds.

After reading the posts on here I think I'm going to go pick up the forehead one too!!

I used to do it under the arm with a digital thermometer but I never felt as though it was really accurate. I have the ear one too - didn't like that either. Now that my kids are older I try slipping it under their tongues but they gag LOL.

I use the forehead one too. As a matter of fact, I've been using it on myself the past few days as well.

Some people say it isn't as accurate. I find it to be pretty on point, and I can use it at night on my DD while she is sleeping.

Even if it is off a little bit, I don't find it to be a problem. There is no difference between 100.5 and 101, you know? Sometimes I just need to know IF she has a fever. It's easy for everyone.
